Rolling back a catalog from V20 to V12
Hi, I currently have C1 for Sony V12 and recently tried the trial version C1 20. I upgraded one catalog to use for the trial. After a month I decided the improvements were not really worth it for me so decided to not proceed with the purchase and stick with V12.
However when I went to open the upgraded catalog in my V12, it would NOT open stating that the catalog had been upgraded and could not be opened in this version of C1. I contacted support who eventually said to run the verify or repair function. However this is not possible as these options are greyed out as C1 think it has no catalog to repair. I have tried creating a new catalog and importing, verifying or repairing the upgraded catalog but again because C1 does not recognise the upgraded catalog, it won't do anything.
Therefore my question is, does anybody have any ideas on how to roll back a catalog to a previous version? Support have stopped talking to me for over a week now. Their last suggestion was to restore the catalog manually but gave absolutely now clue or instructions on how to do that.
Surely I can't be the first person in the world who decided not proceed with the purchase and simply wants to go back to their existing version.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

I am not aware of any way either.
Maybe you can try to export your latest images and adjustments to an EIB package and import it in the old version? Just an idea, I did not try this.
The message which appears when trying to open an old version catalog seems to be correct. I wonder that the advice to repair was given by support; if there are new people which lack an in-depth knowlegde of the supported product they should take the opportunity to try this out before giving such an advice, otherwise they stick at the same level if knowlegde and we can expect similar level of quality support in the future.
Useless support replies have been reported not only once recently. If thats true what some people claim and the support team is new and there are so many new users here that they cannot cope with the incoming support requests in a timely and quality manner I wonder why they do not hire temporarily one or the other experienced C1 ambassador to help during that transmission phase, which seemingly was a bad timing.

P.S. Whatever you try I suggest you do this on a copy of your v12 catalog, just to be on the safe side

When you upgraded the Catalog from V12 to V12 C1 will have saved a copy of your V12 Catalog as it was at the time. You can rename that copy and start to use it once again with V12. It should be found in the the Catalog's folder
You will, of course, not have the edits you made using V20. You should also rename your V20 catalogue and keep it in case you change your mind about the upgrade and decide to obtain V20.
When trialling one should always use a copy of the catalogue (which C1 will, ,in effect, do for you) and be aware that any editing undertaken will apply to the new release version of the catalogue but not the old one.

When Capture One Upgrades a catalog, in addition to what is mentioned above, it usually saves aopy of the old acatalog database inside the OSX bundle that users see as the catalog file.
If you can'r find a catalog backup, this should work:
You should be able to see it in finder by right-clicking on the catalof "file" and seklecting show contents. If you do find that thee old database is present, You could proceed as follows:
- Copy the Catalog "file" and give it a different name.
- Using Finder, enter the copied catalog via "show contents", delete the current database file (remember the name exactly)
- rename the old database file to the same as the now deleted database file.
- Exit the Catalog file
- Start your previous version of Capture One and open the renamed and modified catalog file

Thank you to everybody who responded. With your help above, I have been able to restore my catalog and it is now working fine. I discovered a few interesting things along the way that I can share to hopefully help someone else.
1. I was aware that C1 20 made a backup copy of the catalog during the installation process. However support could not tell me where that was located. They obviously didn't know themselves. With SFA's help I found it in the catalog folder but it was not straight forward as there were a total of 7 backup files there. Two were labelled temp_import, two were only 250 and 650kb in size and the remaining 3 were labelled backup 1, backup 2 and backup 3. None would open in V12 but read more below. Also note that this is NOT the location where I save my backups to so these files were created by C1 automatically at some stage.
2. I still had the trial version of C1 installed on my computer (windows 10). After several attempts at opening any of the files mentioned above, I realised it was always opening C1 20 even though I was specifically selecting C1 V12 in the program browse menu. I realised that even though I was specifically selecting V12, it was always V20 that was opening. The trial version was overriding my selection of V12 every time. I then deleted C1 20 trial version completely.
3. I then followed the advice of SFA and ericnepean by moving the upgraded file to another location (I didn't delete it just in case) and then renaming the backup 2 file (my best guess initially) to the original name (which simply meant deleting the words "backup 2" from the name). I then opened C1 V12 (to prove it was the correct version running) and opened the renamed file and "whaaaalaaaaa' it worked.
So thanks again to all, your support was better than support.
