Dark screen extremely unpleasant to use.
Sorry folks, the apparently newly supplied White on black forum theme is horrible.
Far too many reflections on the black to make it usable.
I assume this is the new style mentioned recently on a post. Or is it, perhaps, a transient settings error as things are updated?
Given that large sections of the user community will always dislike whatever you offer can I suggest you find a way to offer at least a Light, a Dark and an Intermediate theme form which people can choose what they want to see?
If Zendesk does not allow for that maybe consider ditching it in favour of something that works for a forum with features that forum users have come to appreciate and enjoy?

It's not just the forum - the whole Capture One website seems to have changed to this black style, and it's almost impossible to use. Absolutely horrible!

Don't give them any ideas Mark!

There were a few complaints about the grey font on white, and no one praising it. Our fault, probably.
At least no one can tell C1 is not listening to its customers.
As far as I am concerned: Dear C1 support, please take my late praisal for the previous style.
Right, Grant, better though if members could choose...
regards

You're right Ian.
I had not stumbled across the full style change when I started this thread - though I suspected it might be happening.
I have my screen brightness turned down as far as it will go and its just horrible to use.
There is, I believe, some science and reason behind Capture One application screens using the grey shades they use.
That logic seems to have been forgotten for the web site - even though it is likely that in many cases people seeking information or looking at forum posts and checking back on application functionality will be switching between the two.
The previous scheme was not great, IMO. Grey test a little to feint for example.
But it was a whole lot more comfortable to use than this new presentation.
Other may have a different opinion. However for the first time I can ever remember for any application I have used over several decades (and there have been some really awful examples) I truly find this unpleasant and uncomfortable to use.
If it was merely a design that I did not find appealing I would not have mentioned it at all.

Not even going to bother reading the other comments because it just hurts my eyes. Text on website and forum are very hard to read!

I also find the white on black very difficult to read. I hope there are some changers.

Yikes - the white background wasn't great, but the black one is really tough on my eyes. There's a reason why websites don't generally use a background with white text :) It's ok for image editing, but for general reading...

Ew ew ew, oh god my eyes!
This is HORRIBLE. There's a reason why forums are usually a dark font on a bright page. And why book are this way.
THIS IS ABSURD. Please change it back to a readable form. I don't care about your designer who thinks he's super smart and wants to impress everyone by using a black background and white fonts.1 -
The white on black screen is unusable! Might as well make it purple on pink, same thing.

When Gutenberg invested the book press what he had available was yellowish paper and black ink, so did the monks centuries before. :-)
On a more serious note, universe repeats itself, even designers sometimes come back to what has been en vougue decades and designer generations before...
Even more serious, fortunately, in digital age, this online design can be changed by a button click, and I hope this will be soon.

I'm not sure which is worse the grey on white or the white on black - they are uncomfortable in such different ways. This problem of colours, fonts etc is fixable by us end users. It takes work but you can override the CSS of the web site. There is a plug-in for browsers called Styllish (https://userstyles.org/) that lets you do that.It is also great for getting rid of all that excess white space (or black space :-) that designers are so fond of.
Since there is little point in spending time on this forum because of the problem of being unable to track what you have read and not read, I will not be spending the time to create a style. I had hoped that the coming update would solve the most important problem of this forum - not really being a forum - but sadly it did not. Perhaps some day.

The high contrast is not good for the eyes in the long run, maybe grey was better (kind of). I'd prefer matt grey as bg with white text.

The grey on white was much easier to read;
Try a larger font or something please.

Mark this black-on-white change down as a swing and a miss.
Next try, please.

Wow. Didn't think it was possible for the forum to get worse.
I guess I was mistaken. This is horrendous. Very difficult for these 62 year old eyes to read.
I frequent sites with white text on black backgrounds that are not hard to read (https://hackaday.com/blog/ ) It's a combination of the colors and texts sizes here that are so problematic.
Amusingly enough, the text entry blocks are black texts on a white background.
Seemingly, someone cannot make up their mind.
Although, I'm certain this message will be deleted like the remainder of my messages.

quote by BeO (3 days ago)There were a few complaints about the grey font on white, and no one praising it.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Except me. I was happy with the gray on white and wrote it. I've left this new forum for a while and it's even worse than before. They removed the only good thing that was here (in my opinion, of course).White on black is difficult to read, hurts the eyes and you start seeing stripes on everything right after a few seconds. How is it possible they didn't realize? The new site is pretty awful. The new forum is worse than ever. It's not a place I'm comfortable to spend my time on, which maybe is good for my life. This is a forum and there's not even a quote function! Really?!0

It's not really a forum, it's a tweaked and oversold knowledge base with commenting function. I like the search function includes C1 articles and the possibility to paste images, but everything else is 3 steps back, and the white on black design is the 4th.

I was not a big fan of the gray on white but this is definitely worse, by far. Some browsers (Vivaldi) have an invert display function that can make this a bit more tolerable until changes are made. It's not an ideal solution as it inverts everything which causes problems of its own, but if you need to do much reading here, it's essential.

Horrible to read! Please give us a choice for a different color scheme or just reactivate the old forum. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, but it is a vast improvement on the previous ugly grey on white. And that from a person who dislikes the way my iPad goes from black on white to white on black when reading a book in kindle player late at night.
