Error Loading Adjustment Mask
I am constantly getting error messages stating that an adjustment mask cannot be loaded. The layer is there but the adjustments are gone. I have run Verify and no issues came up. Could someone suggest why this may be occurring and how to fix it?
Thanks.

Ah, I see. I made no new adjustments, I don't think. I'll post here if anything changes, though.

Well, in that case the there's still a chance that it really has been fixed.

I believe that you're right. I've been carrying out some layers work on one image when I quit the programme. On starting later today there was no error message. Hurrah!

The issue appears to persist. I just got the error message for a photo I edited today with the new version (13.1.2).

I just received a reply from support; they're aware that the issue hasn't been fixed.

Well done, Thomas. Thanks for letting us all know. Chris

For what it's worth, I have just updated to 13.1.2..37 on two machines (macBookPro & Mac Pro)
Earlier the job on the laptop (shot yesterday) had lost all adjustments between shutdown and re opening today!
After update, the masks were back, on the laptop.
Still couldn't be seen on updated desktop.
However deleted job on desktop and re-copied session folder, and masks are showing up again! (Phew!)
Have had a ticket open for weeks and nothing useful forthcoming!

As mentioned in this thread about the same issue, I was told by support yesterday that they can't guarantee this will be fixed in the next update.

What do other users experiencing this issue do until it's fixed? Use a different program, or has anyone found a workaround?

I just stopped using the Cloning tool (the action that I’m pretty sure initially started the issue for me) for now and it hasn’t happened again. I don’t have any current projects that need cloning immediately, but I suppose when I do I’ll hop into Photoshop? (The whole reason I got into C1 was for more layers, so I might eventually make the full switch to PS if this issue persists). I’m an avid LR user anyway so it makes sense.

It happens with healing as well, which I find difficult to do without.
I'm considering returning to Lightroom. Though Capture One has its advantages, this issue is just about the last straw.

I’ve removed all active cloning layers in my current catalog and the issue hasn’t popped up again (fingers crossed). Don’t know if that will help anyone else, but could be worth a try? (I only had like 30 images in my new Portfolio catalog with cloning applied so it was relatively easy to go through and remove those layers). But you’re right, we shouldn’t have to be dealing with this at all, lol.

Four months and this hasn't been fixed yet.

I have used (for tethered capture) Capture One since v2.7 and this is the first time I have seen such a "buggy" release. All my suspicions should have told me to question such a heavily (pre launch) promoted and then discounted software. I suspect a very major issue, with no fix any time soon. Just my 2c worth and gut feeling (sadly)

I am having this issues as well.. All my work is destroyed on a daily basis. I agree that it seems to happens when you open a previous saved session. This is a devasting error - like a new car loosing one of its wheel on a daily basis no matter how much the bolts are tightened...
I have made a ticket with support.. they where not helpful in any way, and only when I told them that I would visit their HQ where I live close too, they told me that they would forward this unknown error to the devs :(

Just to see if it made any difference, I created a new catalogue and then imported my old catalogue. So far I haven't lost any adjustment masks.

I'm have the same error working with sessions.Did some tests. On my Macbook this error only occurs if I work with subfolders within the Capture Folder! Without subfolder I didn't get this error!

So I am experiencing this issue as well. "Error loading adjustment mask: An adjustment mask for an image is missing. The missing mask has been replaced by an empty mask". The thing is, I'm not making a specific mask. It's just a user styler on a layer with a full FILLED MASK. So anytime I quite my session and reopen it, I start to get these errors. I have read through the thread, and I do not see any fixes for this. It seems like I'm not the only one, and its been going on for some time.

Perhaps you could see if creating a new catalogue solves the issue.

Creating a new catalogue didn't solve the problem. It just happened again here.

I use sessions only. I do not use either the clone or healing brush - ever (I use PS for that). I'm getting the same error (error loading adjustment mask). The layer is there, but toggling it's view on and off does nothing. However, the effect of the mask now seems baked into the base layer. Hitting the 'M' key does nothing - no mask to view. Time is valuable. I still have an active license for PS/LR, so I'll be doing all future processing there until this is resolved. Very frustrating, considering the cash outlay for this 'upgrade' to CO 20.

It is indeed frustrating, not least considering how long it has been going on. And, as usual, not a word about when to expect a fix.

The issue is supposed to be fixed in the new update.

Actually session from last week has lost its adjustment layers (however may have already lost them when session was closed)
Will have to create a new session to test!

"Actually session from last week has lost its adjustment layers (however may have already lost them when session was closed)"
Yes, I would assume that they were lost when Capture One was closed.

OK! - Good news, a new session made with 13.1.3, has survived being closed and transferred by network from laptop to desktop with layers still intact.
Caveat (one image only)
We'll see!
Thanks to all here who offered support & suggestions!

I'm still getting this message and losing my adjustment layers even with a new session and with the latest update. For me it occurs when I reopen a session and select an image which has been previously processed with a process recipe. Images which have layers but which have not been previously processed seem fine. Is anyone else still getting this?
