Vector scope for color grading, color matching and color correction
ImplementedHello
One feature that is in most video editing software is a vector scope. This is a feature that is missing from most photo editing applications, but would be highly useful. That would make color matching, color grading and color correction super easy.
I would like to see a vector scope that shows all the colors in the picture and when moving the pointer across the image the color will be highlighted on the vector scope.
Thanks,
Best regards,
John Ivar Evensen

Hi,
I forgot in my original post to mention that it should also be mask aware. When mask is applied only colors in the mask should be shown in the vector scope.
Thanks,
John Ivar

Are you aware of the L*a*b* readouts available in C1?
What would one use a Vectorscope for, except for camera profile calibration?
What kind of graticules would you want to see supported?
BTW, there is typically not just one mask active for an image in C1. Are you thinking of the implicit mask defined by a current colour range selection?

Hi,
I am not sure if you understand my point... Please see below for an example of a vector scope.
You can see the distribution of colors in the image on the vectorscope, and ensure that colors is matching up as you want.. For example, skin tones should align with the line between red and yellow. You might also want to ensure color harmonies e.g. Complementary colors should be positioned 180 degrees opposite each other (analyzing the readout in this example you see that you might want to move the blues a bit more towards cyan to achieve complementary colors..) . There are plenty of other uses for this type of tool....

Hi John,
Thank you for feedback on Capture One - this is always welcomed and encouraged among our users and we appreciate the time you've taken to contribute towards the development of the software.
I have forwarded your comments and suggestions to our Product Management team as something to consider in a future release.
Whilst we cannot comment on future releases, we take all suggestions on board and hopefully your feedback contributes towards a future version of Capture One.

yes agreed, vector scope would be super useful

This would be a lovely complement to Capture One’s colour and skin correction tools. Vector scopes let you easily visualize and dial in colours, skin tones in particular.
I’m curious why it’s marked as completed? There’s currently no vector scope in C1.

Whitney,
"I’m curious why it’s marked as completed? There’s currently no vector scope in C1."
The request made here in the forum has been passed to the product managers for them to add the idea to the list of possible developments. Maybe. At some point in the future.

A vectorscope would make working on skintones such a professsional reliable tool! Please add this.

Also throwing in my recommendation. C1 really needs a "Scopes" tool. Start with Vectorscope since that's the most important. Definitely need the skintone line and color targets. Would make fixing colors with a color chart super easy.
In fact just copy the exact functionality of Davinci Resolve's Vectorscope since it's industry standard and exactly what we need (the one John Evensen posted a screenshot of)!

Vectorscope is really helpful tool for everybody who take portraits. Please add it

Coming from Davinci Resolve, I also want to push that a vectorscope and other scope tools are highly needed...
It's much easier to correct color with these.0 -
That would be a game changer

2023 still no Scopes: no Vectorscope, no Waveforms, no Parade. C'mon guys, histogram is obsolete
