Capture One Network Performance poorly slow
Hi all,
we got the following problem.
We are running a SAN system which is usually very fast and works very well with all other applications like Photoshop, Indesign etc.
But with Capture One we are expierencing very slow performances.
The application starts super slow already and the preview sometimes take minutes for each image to show up.
Did anyone have similar problems and maybe a solution for it.
Capture One was always not very fast in our SAN environment but with Capture 20 it is not workable at all.
Thanks for your ideas.
best

Hi Markus,
I have a similar problem, not on a SAN, but on an external drive (images and catalog are in the external drive).
I have folder with almost 9000 images taken with a Sony A7R, which in the previous C1 version had no issues of performance with the same number of images.
In this last version, the first time I entered to this folder as I need to export an image, it took 15 minutes of machine thinking...., and later any movement of my cursor took 30 seconds to respond.
After forcing quit, as C1 stopped responding, I finally was able to select all images and assign Engine C1 20; this helped, now the response time of the cursor takes 1 - 2 seconds, with this particular folder.
I have quite a few catalogs in the same external drive, with less images (about 2500 even each image is 450 megas in size), and have no issues of performance, guess the new version has a performance issue with volume within the catalog, which could be happening with you.
Hope assigning the latest Engine helps.
Regards,
Gonzalo

Hi Gonzalo,
As far as I am concerned, my RAW images are indeed on an external drive (SSD), but my catalogue is on my internal (main) drive, together with the application. I think this helps in good performances. Actually, Capture One needs most of the time to access the catalogue, and this access should be as fast as possible. But the RAW files can be stored on an external drive : Capture One needs them only when exporting or making local corrections.
@ Markus : there is a recurrent problem in Capture One when using NAS. It hasn't been solved yet. And many people are complaining....

Thank you Robert, will move the catalogs to my laptop, as before I had no issues.
By the way we still need C1 technical team to fix the Color Editor bug.

Did you submit a request ?

Yes, and got an answer that it was a bug and that it will be looked at, but the time to solve was uncertain.

We usually use sessions.
Mostly i use a session localy on my mac and access folders on our SAN system.
This takes ages and sometimes previews don‘t render sharp at all even after 15min.
Maybe some support people from Capture One can give me feedback on this issue.
SAN drives are mounted like local haddrives and our SAN is connected with a 10Gbit connection. Usually we have transfer rates of 700mb+/s.
But with Capture One wverything is extremly slow. Many thanks.

@Markus This forum is for user to user discussion. CaptureOne staff sometimes watches the forum, but you cannot count on it. For feedback from CaptureOne I advise that you open a support ticket.
