Not Sure if this is the right forum, But I have just recently had all my equipment stolen, all Canon cameras, lens etc and was debating the option of going with all new sony equipment which I use for video. I have been using capture one since day one with Phase one P30 back and canon for the last 10 years. But I am thinking about changing to all sony for video and photos.
My only concern is being able to shoot tethered with the sony A7rII in studio and making sure my clients are happy and everything works well. I never had any problemas with Canon and images came in relatively fast and everything just works. I cannot find much information on tethering with Micro usb and the sony's not to mention the fact that the A7rII is 48 megapixels , almost double the file size of the 5DMIII. Can someone direct me to the proper information on this subject as I need to invest in all new equipment and was thinking about going with the full sony line up, A7sII for video, A7rII for photos and all the Batis lens line up..
I would really appreciate in help on this topic as I need to make a move really soon...
    Thank you very much
    Eric
PS. I have Capture One 9 pro, does this mean my sony will work or do I have to buy another Sony only capture one pro?
    THANKS!!! 😁

Your Sony equipment will work just fine.

    In a nutshell:
Capture One 9 Express for Sony = free, limited features, only Sony cameras
Capture One 9 Pro for Sony = reduced price, full features, only Sony cameras
Capture One 9 Pro = full price, full features, all cameras

I understand it will work now but is it painfully slow?
This is my situation at the moment:
Thinking about switching to Sony A7rII and I have my doubts about shooting tethered. I have been shooting Canon for 20 years and have used C-1 since day one and love it, would not use anything else.

My concern is with the sony having a micro USB 2.0 and it is a 48 mp image, I am afraid the images are going to pop up way to slow and my clients are always wanting me to shoot tethered on almost all of my Jobs. I have a really Big job coming up in NY with a really famous person and will not want to be embarrassed by shooting with a Sony tethered if it is painfully slow, I do not shoot really fast but faster than normal. I do fashion and many times fire of several shots fast. I was wondering if after many months of this post what people have to say after using the sony tethered to C-1 for a while now? My choice is going to be a 5DS which is USB 3.0 or Sony A7rII. Was wondering what you all think. I was on a shoot 3 months ago with Patrick Demarchelier and he was using the 5Ds and the images popped up pretty fast and everything worked pretty smooth with the client and digital tech using Capture One. Was actually surprised Patrick was not using medium format but the tech guys told me the 5Ds was comparable to medium format. Thanks for any opinions from anybody that has had real life experiences either way.

    Thanks

    Eric

I don't have any experience with shooting tethered with a Sony A7rII, but a USB 2.0 connexion gives you a theoretical speed of 60 MB/s. Even if it slows down to, say, 30 MB/s in real life, my guess is a 48 mp picture in RAW wouldn't take more than 2 seconds to get transfered.
