Which GPU to Get?

I know that this question has been asked in the past, but I'm on the cusp of upgrading my current AMD 7950 to a Nvidia 1080ti or an AMD Vegas 64. I decided that I'm drop the mother lode and get a really fast card for future purposes. I tend not to change my equipment very offen like some do, so I'm looking for a long term solution. I primary use CO and an other pieces of software, and if inclined a game or two.

My question is which card offers the best bang for the buck for CO and Adobe products. I might dabble in video one day and I don't want to get a card that won't keep up. Also, I'm planning on updating my monitors(eventually) to 4K and i want a card that keeps up.

Sorry if this has been discussed again, but a quick answer is all I need.

  it is my two cents.
  
  I think nVidia is generally with better software optimization both in photo / video editing and gaming support as well.
  
  If you want MAX future proof, nVidia cant go wrong.

  Depends on what your focus is or will be.
  
  For Capture One/Photoshop/Lightroom just about any good, solid card will do (R580, GFX 1070 or better).
  If you also plan to do some serious gaming of modern titles in high resolution, I'd go with a 1080 Ti, though even that won't be able to deliver 4K at ultra high settings with the most demanding games.
  
  There are also the Titan cards but those are kind of weird. They are way too expensive for gaming compared to the 1080Ti and even though they are great for computing, a lot of professional software is really meant to be used with Quadro or AMD (Fire)Pro cards and their specific profiles....
  
  btw: if you want a 30-bit screen output in OpenCl applications you need a Quadro.
  
  I went with a 1070 which is more than enough for CO (though due to some bug it doesn't use it with the current version...which is very annoying), Photoshop, Lightroom and the games I sometimes indulge in (I prefer older titles and only have a 1440 screen anyway). But since my screen is also capable of real 30-bit output I have been toying with the idea of getting a Quadro... but I'd really miss the performance of the 1070, at least with games.

  I have the 1080 as I do like gaming I am sure its a touch slower then some other cards but still quite quick and it balances nice with the 7820x
  
  the benchmark thread shows one thing is balance of CPU and GPU to get the performance in C1 out of your GPU you need a CPU to match it
  something to think about and if you plan on updating your CPU ? think about which one and get one accordingly
  
  I do think the Nvidia has better more stable drivers over AMD and that does matter a lot to me this could be personal opinion from reading and having both
  
  as far as adobe photo programs meaning LR and PS neither needs a gpu ? adobe sucks these days in this area but no idea about the video side of things so premier might use a GPU really well I do not know
