EIP Option - Performance?
I like to use the EIP format for all informations embedded in one file. It makes it simple to backup the files. Since I switched to the EIP file format for my sessions I mean that the performance is getting worse. Is this normal?
I use a MacBook Pro (Retina 13 Zoll, Begin 2015) and RAW files from Nikon D3x. My SSD is actually 155GB free space, no filefault and virus prevention software activated. In use is OSX 10.11 and Capture One 8.3.3.23. To open the session it takes about 6 seconds - this is ok. The performance for jumping in the browser to the next picture and the display of the image takes some seconds. My selected folder is about 35 pictures and the switch between the images takes about 5-8 seconds. My preview setting is 1680px.

Have you tried unpacking the EIP's and see if the performance gets better?
You could always pack them back up.0 -
An .eip is a .zip file with all your image information. You can actually rename and unpack it in finder. CO needs to unpack it, too. So, yes, it is normal that you lose some speed opening eip. Especially when running through the images in the browser bar.

Found the original blog about eip files again, dated 02/02/2012. Here it is:

The .EIP file format doesn’t change your RAW files; it simply uses standardized zipping technology to pack all needed components into one file:

Thank you for your answers. Now it is clear. I think I have to work with a larger browser setting without the viewer to speed up. Focusing mask and the magnifying tool will help me. 0
