PSD / DNG / Flexible Workflow.
I am trying to use C1Pro to manage folders that contain NEF's, DNG's and IIQ files. These projects often contain TIF's and PSD's. But Capture One Pro 6.01 ignores the PSD's. Is this a bug or is Capture One not supporting PSD's. I am of course talking about viewing and not editing the PSD.
Along the same lines does Phase One have an official statement on their position in the near term and long term regarding DNG support. Full support: Reading, Writing and storing the editing chain, updatable previews.
Any workflow I try to create right now that includes Capture One Pro is a nightmare.

PSD viewing is not supported. 0 -
Any idea why?
I would also like a response from Phase One regarding my other questions.
Thanks.0 -

No, I do not have knowledge about the reason (I have an opinion but that's another story). Please be aware that in case you need a direct response from Phase One you'd better open a support case as this is a user forum.0 -
PSD are not supported in Capture One as Paul stated.. this is predominantly because they are proprietary files for Photoshop and contain far more than just image data. Ultimately there are dozens of file formats that we could choose to support for viewing in Capture One, however the purpose of Capture One is raw adjustment and not asset management. Enabling all sorts of files for viewing add clutter and slows down the software and workflow.
As for DNG this is what I can say... We support reading and processing DNG raw files we also allow for the conversion to DNG. I think your real question here is saving raw adjustments into dng files and accessing those adjustments in other software? This is not likely to happen because essentially it cannot happen. DNG adjustments stored inside the file (or sidecar xmp) are not open universal adjustments. They are Adobe ACR adjustments, therefore only adobe can really read write and interpret them. The parameters are also subject to update at any time by Adobe rather than being a standard tag such as EXIF or to a lesser extent IPTC.0 -
This was a bug/design feature of CO. If the file contains an alpha channel the file is skipped. But no error, or any other form of notification is given by CO. To me skipping the file is OK. Skipping it without logging the fact is a serious bug.
This also applies to another thread I opened.
