Have you ever tried to use Capture One Pro 7.1.4 with the Developer Preview (DP7) of OS X 10.9 Mavericks? Do you know if the Phase One developer team is working to make a new release of Capture One full compatible with the official release of Mavericks this fall?

I have, most of it works fine, one thing doesn't however: starting new sessions only works if you choose "open in new window", otherwise you get the spinning ball and CO1 crashes after a while. You can then (if you tried to start a new session without choosing "open in new window and CO1 crashed) verify that the new session has actually been made, and you can reopen CO1 and open the session from the toolbar ( "file" > "open" and navigate to the .cosessiondb file. But this then means, that you can not switch from this session to other sessions or catalogues, because if you try to, CO1 will crash. Only way around it, is to create new sessions in their own separate window, CO1 will then have several windows open, and you can switch between them. Just don't try to close one of the windows, because that also leads CO1 to crash. This, and the noticeable delay in switching from e.g. the exposure tab (or any other tab) to the library tab, are the only issues that I've found.

We are of course aware of 10.9's existence and test and develop accordingly. I cannot comment on release-timings though.

Apple is famous, if not infamous, for making last minute changes from the final DP version to the first release version as well as making unannounced changes in dot versions that adversely effect the usability of software and non-Apple hardware.

No developer is going to promise 100% day one compatibility on anything because they are at the mercy of something that is outside of their control.

A lot of people are going to be Jonesin' to get C1Pro running on their new model MacPro, myself included. But ultimately the usability of software, and to some extent third party hardware, is going to be more determined by how little the final release version of Mavericks changes from the DP and there is no way of knowing that until the final drops.

    (Insert future-looking statement boilerplate here)

I have not encountered any issues, yet, running Mavericks and C1P.

    Things seem to be decent.

    regards,

I have it downloaded (the release AKA the revised golden master - OS X 10.9 (13A603)) am running C1Pro7.1.4 and so far everything seems about the same. I have not been able to reproduce the issue that ChrisM mentioned:

but that may be due to a difference in other conditions and settings, namely, I do not have a camera hooked up at the moment.

I would not say it is a full on go go go just yet, but all indications so far have been positive.

Mine is all good so far. Note that after installing it my display profile was reset so I had to select the calibrated profile in OSX preferences.

OpenCL does not work ("OpenCL : failed to reuse kernels. OpenCL disabled")
Creating and/or editing Smart Albums crashes COP

You could try deleting/moving this file to fix OpenCL

    /Users/Shared/Capture One/ImageCore/ICOCL.bin

CO will then maybe try and re-build the binary using the new OSX libraries / kernel when it is started up.

I can also confirm that creating Smart Albums crashes it.

Been using Capture Pro 7.1.3 with Mavericks for a while now with no problems.
I only use Sessions not Catalogs.

Its a good idea to wait several months before upgrading OS for issues like this - 10.8.5 is rock solid with C1 6 and 7.1.4!

I was in sessions when COP crashed when making a smart album when I hit the "+". It also happens in catalogs too.
    OS X 10.9 (13A603) with Capture One Pro 7.1.4 Build 92 (1b6b865). on a test drive.

PhaseOne has made no statement about compatibility with Mavericks, which usually means they are working hard to get a release out that works, which they usually don't do until they have had the published version for awhile. Reports of "it works for me", is not a good indicator beyond that one person. I imagine an update is coming, and given the recent price reductions, I would not be surprised to see Capture One Pro 8.0 as well.

It is probably not wise to upgrade to Mavericks on a Capture One critical machine.

I have been using Mavericks (in various pre-release versions) and Capture One for quite some time on two different machines without any issue. But I am not a wise person ๐Ÿ˜„

I can confirm that we are working on a release that adds official support for OS X Mavericks as UCS308 so succinctly remarks. We do not recommend upgrading to Mavericks on a critical machine before official support is added.

Guess I came to these forums a little too late. My version is utterly unstable, even after a full clean install. Guess I'll be using Aperture till COP release the maverick update.

I'll know for next time there is an OSX update, and not rush in.

On adjusting my workflow, I find that COP crashes on removing and installing tools and tool tabs.

You only really have yourself to blame, the current version of CO is not certified to work with Mavericks ๐Ÿ™„

Poppycop., C1 have had all last year and this year to ensure dynamic development support is available for Mavericks. Mavericks has been stable since long before BETA 7. So why have PhaseOne once again lingered in the past and not updated it's products...???? Simple it is their CTO's failure to direct and manage his development teams.

Lets face it we can't even list the history of changes made to an image..and people wonder why they return to Lightroom...

Time for a reality check and wake up call.

    Colin.

Hey - can you please confirm if you will also update C1 6 with Mavericks support?

CO 6 will not be updated, as it a discontinued version.

Works for me with a 5Dii on a Mid 2011 i7 iMac and a mid-2012 i5 MBA. Canon's EOS utility also works fine, for what it is worth.

Your mileage may vary and I really recommend not to upgrade critical systems just yet.
