Renaming/Renumbering while importing from different cameras?
Hi,
I am using more than one Sony-Body for my works. Now, each body is naming the files in the same manner, like DSC1234.ARW i.e.,wich leads to the problem, that there might be identical filenames from both bodies.
Can I set a renaming-rule while importing wich will increase the numbering by -1- in order to prevent overwriting existing files?
Best regards, jens

In the "Naming" tab of the import dialog, maybe you could add for instance the model name of the camera ("Model" token)? The renaming possibilities are almost endless. 0 -
In addition to John Doe's suggestion ....
Do the bodies allow you to set the file name prefix?
Having the bodies do the naming for you might be useful in other ways too.

Hi Jon and Grant,
thanks for the helpful replies. Yes, defining a namin inside the cameras was what I expected, bur unfortunately neither the A6000 nor the A7R gives such a tool. So I chose the way working with tokens (btw a wonderful advatage against LR where I come from;)) Nad maybe sony will provide an Firmwareupdate, which will give us the options too.
Thanks for helping and best regards,

Hi Jens,
I did have some doubts about the suggestion.
"Pro" Canons seem to allow the file prefix to be set. Anything lower (as far as I know) just has the sRGB/aRGB prefix identifier available.
I am slightly surprised that a duplicate import overwrites - I thought it added 1.
Still not a great solution.
Why not look at adding the camera serial number to the file name on import (if nothing else seems better than that for this idea) and then use the batch rename to change the serial number to something more useful for you. Not too much work and relatively quick.
Much clearer to use than looking for an extra number at the back end of the name.

On import I always add the date and time I took the picture to the beginning of the file name.
If it is important to you that you can identify the camera it will not be usable, but it is very unlikely you will ever have the same file names from both cameras.
Plus all your pictures out of one camera will have a unique name.0
