Definitely not a new major version for me
Hi,
- No significant change in the user interface (I admit, browsing is faster)
- No significant change in the cataloging features. The orientation filter could possibly be useful if it allowed to find images by ratio or approximate ratio (this is also missing in Lightroom by the way).
- Nothing done about the external editors configuration (even the simplest image viewer can do that)
- Old bugs not fixed despite the promises
- New engine obviously doesn't mean new RAW processor. Not sure about what the 3-step sharpening will bring. I still have to check this. Is this worth the 99 euros ?
Really disappointed.

Since you can have a trial, you could try it out for yourself before deciding whether it is worth it.

This is exactly what I'm doing. But I didn't get very far with it since C1 10 rather quickly crashed my system due to a huge memory leak. See other thread about that.0 -

Yep, I'm still on release 8 for the exact same reason - and I had a "robust discussion" with Phase One at the time about what "new engine" means.
Suffice to say, it means something different to Phase One than it means to me...
At least we seem to be making some headway with camera profiles in release 10 though.0 -
I'm in the same boat.
What I find frustrating is that the upgrade pricing is the same from v8 and v9, hence there is not much incentive to stay current.
Also, paid updates are becoming more frequent yet less impressive. Cost of ownership appears to be increasing even though I would have thought the install base is also getting larger.
It seems P1 are in a phase of really trying monetize C1P for all its worth right now.
I'd like to upgrade but can't really justify it based on the trial...0
