ImgCoreProcess.exe error
I get this Windows 'ImgCoreProcess.exe error' message several times per session (about 150 files), usually while processing a file. On top of that, sometimes my settings are lost.
Am I the only one with this problem? (Toshiba Satellite with Windows XP, SP2 etc., 2Gb RAM, Pentium 2.6Ghz).
I never had this problem with version 3.7.
Any help gratefully appreciated.

I'm still having the problem on and off even though I use short names now.
I can't find a pattern to it. My output is 16bit TIFs too, sometimes on my c:\\ drive, sometimes on an external hard disk.0 -
I have just joined this forum and my problem is that, despite reading and acting on all the relevant forum posts, I am to totally unable to output to TIFF, getting the ImgCoreProcess Error every time.
I am not trying to Batch Process and the error appears to come up just as the red processing bar completes.
My details - CaptureOne 4.0.1.14900 - WinXP SP2 - Canon 350D.
I have tried the ICC Profiles Canon 350, Phase One No Color and Adobe DNG File Neutral - all fail each and every time.
Processing to JPG works fine but is not what I want.
I like the idea of using this software and appreciate that others are succeeding in getting this sorted out but I feel I have tried everything and got nowhere.
Some help would be greatly appreciated.0 -
brimon, seems like the perfect opportunity for the phase one people to uncover what the bug is. I've still not managed to reproduce it at my end even after using capture one 4 for a recent shoot with upwards of 250 images to process.
I wonder if they have an instrumented version of c1 that could be run on your machine...............0 -

hi brimon,
have you tried to alter the different output options for TIFF, like compression and 8- versus 16-bit. Is there any change? Same for output location; have you tried different locations?
Last, what output profile do you use? Have you altered that? I suggest you use sRGB or AdobeRGB for a start.
I suggest you use the Canon 350D Generic profile as input profile (on the Quick tab).0 -
I have tried various things and I still have the problem. It never happens when outputting JPGs (but this is not what I want from C1). I work on 16 bit TIFs, I have not tried 8 bits.
Deleting the "Capture One.col" file in the Capture One Library seems to temporarily ease things. It doesn't remove your settings but you have to rebuild the collection.0 -

What do you mean with 'have to rebuild the collection'? Favorites, Albums? Just curious.
Same request to you, it is trial and error: alter some settings as I suggest to brimon, if you like of course.0 -

When I have the ImgCoreProcess Error message, I have to close C1.
When I delete the "CaptureOne.col", C1 doesn't find my working directory when I restart it. So I have to navigate thorugh the tree to "rebuild" (not sure the term is appropriate) the thumbnails in the browser.0 -

That is correct; In Capture One.col the last used folder is stored.0 -
I'm getting the error while converting single files, program fails at various times into use, though this may be due to different times spent on each image before processing.
Dell Duo Intel 2.66 XPx64 8gb RAM
Working files on external NetCell RAID 3 controlled 3 drive box.
1DsMII CR2 files - 100 - 200 files per folder

I notice when I delete the CaptureOne.col file in My Pictures/Capture One Library, it is rebuilt immediately after I open CO4. Am I missing something here?
Should I delete the Capture One folder containing the proxies folder that CO4 creates in the folder containing the RAW files?0 -

Paul replied,
"have you tried to alter the different output options for TIFF, like compression and 8- versus 16-bit. Is there any change? Same for output location; have you tried different locations? "
I have tried TIFF with no compression and with zip, 8-bit and 16-bit output, different output filenames and locations.
Further from Paul
"Last, what output profile do you use? Have you altered that? I suggest you use sRGB or AdobeRGB for a start.

I have tried Adobe RGB and sRGB as output profile and Canon 350D Generic, Phase One No Color and Adobe DNG File Neutral as input
You will see that I have tried just about every permutation and still have not been able to produce one single TIFF output file.
I am close to giving up on this and reverting to Adobe Camera RAW which has given me no trouble whatsoever.0 -
Having heard no further from this forum, I have now raised my problem with PhaseOne support and await their reply with interest.. I will let you know if and when I make any progress.

Sadly I'm getting these crashes too. I't can occur with batches of 100 images as well as smaller batches around 20 images.
I have to restart the software after each time. The failure apears about 2-3 times a batch.
I'm processing from Canon 5D generic to 8-bit TIFF with Adobe RGB(1998).
Inputs and outputs are on separate internal drives, which I thought would be a good idea.
Computer is AMD 1,8GHz with 2GB RAM and Windows XP SP2.
Phase One software version is 4.0.1.14900.14887
This is part of the error message:
ImgCoreProcess.exe
ImgCoreProcess.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
AppName: imgcoreprocess.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: imgcoredll.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 005d118a
I've not tried to work with shorter search paths yet. My input disk pathway have a total of 68 characters. Can this be too much?
Pretty annoying problem this, since I want to be able to leave the computer and do something else while processing. Now I'm stuck monitoring the process... :/0 -

You message is a Windows system error message, or just possibly from the .NET framework. I haven't experienced it with C1 (yet!), but I have had similar problems with other programs. It can be very hard to track down, but is often associated with resource conflicts of one kind or another.
I wonder if C1 is subject to memory leaks, or perhaps has an issue with file handles under certain circumstances. Whatever the problem is, I suggest that everyone who experiences this error raises a support case, so that Phase One staff are left in no doubt about the significance of the problem.

Well, today I processed 78 files and it went without a hitch.
I had taken the precaution to delete the CaptureOne.col folder before downloading, I don't know if this made the difference.
Then I downloaded the RAW files from my SD card to a folder with a short name on c:\\
I applied the generic Pentax K10D in a batch.
I batch processed all the files (16-bit TIF) in one shot to an external drive. (My c:\\ drive is nearly full).
Everything worked perfectly.
I'll use this workflow again tomorrow as I should have another batch to do. If I get the dreaded error message again, I will finally file a support case with Phase One.0 -

It should not be to much but you could help in tracking down the problem if you would like to try a shorter path for comparison. In my tests it did make a difference.0 -
I had to restart C1 five times today to process a batch of 225 files. So, I haven't been able to find a pattern for this error message after all and I finally give up. 0 -
Success!
I posted earlier about my total inability to generate TIFF files, failing each and every time with the Image Core Process error and that I had raised a Support Case with Phase One.
They have been most diligent and helpful.
With much passing of diagnostic info they reckoned that I had a clash with TrueImage Monitor which is a process which runs in the background on my PC and is part of my backup program Acronis True Image.
I uninstalled True Image and still the Capture one crash persisted.
They then focussed on the Microsoft .Net Framework in my OS and I ran a repair on this.
After finally deleting the Capture One Library folder in ...\\My Pictures the fault was finally cleared.
Many support services walk away when a problem iinvolves clashes with the OS or other providers software and P1 support has been more than heplful

I just got this error on the latest release for C1 v5. And now I'm getting the Error Setting Source issue with any file I try to process. Did anyone ever figure out what the actual issue is and if there is a work around? I didn't really see any resolution in the thread. 0 -
