The Current version of 3.7.7 has preliminary support for the Mk III, call it Beta or Test
Feedback from customers will help implement Full Support with Free UpDate 3.7.8 due at end of this month / early July
4.0 LE version UpGrade will arrive first followed by the PRO and DB versions.
All versions are expected later this year ~ 2007~ when they are ready for Final Release.

I would guess that it is more than likely. Especially since 3.7.7 has limited support, and 3.7.8 is supposed to include full support.

One of the features listed for 4.0 is that camera support may be added or updated without requiring another full release of the main program. Each camera will have more of a "driver" that includes the information on how to decode its raw files. So if a bug is fixed or the decoding improved for a particular camera only users of that model will need to update.

    Keith,

I think the initial try at Canon Mark 3 support is pretty good. I'm pleased with the output.

Do you folks need beta testers? I've never seen any requests for them but I know that I and a bunch of others here would be willing.

Yes indeed... You will see a Beta Tester check box and form displayed when you go to Download the Program from web site:

The option to sign-up as a Beta Tester displays at the Download area
for Capture One on both platforms.

I presume that after we sign up to be beta testers, Phase One will contact us about the next step, right? I signed up, and it took me to the 3.7.7. download page. I also found that the link to see the conditions did not work.

    Hello

This will simply sign you up as beta tester.
CO 4.0 is not available as a public beta yet. Currently it is only a internal Alpha version. Once it is available you should get a e-mail notifying you of its availability.

It would be a good thing for Phase One to send a confirmation email to those users who registered for the beta test. With the Conditions link not working, I don't have a great deal of faith that the beta sign-up worked.

Given that, I don't suppose anyone has heard any more from Phase One on this?

    Thanks,

    David

To Clarify... the question here was 'how to sign-up to be a Beta Tester.'

The Beta Sign-up does work and contact information is retained for all future Beta Versions of Capture One.
When there is a Beta Version of the software, Testers will be notified.
Currently, there is only an LE Alpha version, and No Beta Version of 4.0 is available.

OK - then I'll repeat my (new) question in a new thread. Sorry - I thought that it was legitimate and reasonable to ask followup questions in an existing thread.

    Hi Keith,

First let me say that I'm looking forward to the new 4.0 Pro version. Everything I have read tells me that the full blown pro version will be ready by the end of 2007. Now I don't have a great deal of knowledge designing software but you're telling me that you guys are going to go from an Alpha LE version to the real deal in the next six months?

What version was that I saw run when they came through Birmingham a few months back? Alpha or Beta because I'm pretty sure it wasn't the LE version.

    Lance,

The first Alpha 4.0 version was demonstrated at Photokina - Cologne, Germany and PhotoPlus - NY, USA last Fall.
Since then, there have been additions to the 4.0 program as it is
being built, A work in progress if you will, ...but Yes, it is still the LE 4.0 Alpha version.
A Beta version will be the next step, followed by a Release Candidate and then the Final Release.
The PRO and DB versions will follow this progression as well.

Then, the Wait will be Over 😄 !

I'm no Developer either, but I know software development takes time,
    many Feature Requests from our customers will be implemented;
and I also know it will be well worth the wait !

    Cheers,
    K C

Keith thanks for the quick reply.. Ok that seems to make mores sense. I guess I'm lucky by the fact that im busy enough that I don't have the opportunity to stop by the forums that often and read and try and keepup with all this and that.

But from that statement and how that works I at least know it will probably be the middle of 2008 before the final PRO 4.0 is available and I receive the email tellng me to go get it.

    Thanks

I am very excited about the next v4 when it comes out. I have been a long time C1 user or at least it feels like a long time, at least in ths digital world.

If the feedback from people who have seen it, in its Alpha state and were impressed then I am confident that we will get something worth waiting for, not to say that I wouldn't want it now, but...with all goods things comes to those who waits.

In the meanwhile, one has the opportunity to try out other products, some better and some worse. It is however funny even though newer products have some really nice features, and C1 can seem a little long in the tooth. It still does a great job.

i had the pleasure of using a Canon 1D MkIII, recently, and was told by the dealer that, I could only use the Canon DPP software, which I found clumpsy, however to my surprise when i was browsing through images from that shooot from my older 1Ds, I also had my 1D MkIII images looking nice and clear.
Thats not bad in my book, the camera had only been out for a week, well here in Western Australia at least.

I do think that Adobe's public beta was a great idea, however, Adobe is also many time bigger a company and presumable have the staff to cope with the number of feedback such a process creates. Still food for thoughts!

Wish it was here now... 😊

Hmmm... 3.7.8 to be released end June/early July?

Can you please give us a revised release date and also tell me whether this version will support the DNG format.

    john_g,

DNG support will come with version 4.0 UpGrade due later this year ~ 2007

3.7.8 UpDate is primarily for our Digital Backs and will not arrive until it is ready.
No specific date is available. The release will be announced at the web site.
