Feature request: Positioning of masks in landscape/portrait
...mode when copy/pasting settings:
I discussed this way back in v.8 and still miss the option to position masks (in particular gradients) relative to the orientation of the photo when copy / pasting settings from one photo to several other photos shot under the same conditions. Let's say that you've shot a series of photos with a bright sky and want to tone down the sky in a similar way in all the photos and you're working on a tight deadline so "good enough" is better than "perfect". It would then be very helpful to be able to apply the same gradient to all the photos regardless of orientation, and then to just drag the gradient into place so it aligns more or less with the horizon.
The gradient would then of course also have to be intelligent enough to extend itself towards the edge of the photo when dragged, so you don't end up with a hard edge near the photo's border after dragging the gradient further into the picture.
I recommend playing around with Lightroom to get a better sense of how this should work, as this is where my inspiration comes from, I used this feature in LR all the time.
I can see how absolute positioning may be better for more precise work, but for press and editorial this would save crucial time.
I don't see this as a case of either/or, I believe both approaches have their place, so my request is for a simple toggle box to switch relative/absolute positioning on/off, so everybody can be happy 😄
