Leica M10-P

I tried searching but couldn't find this.

I got a nice new M10-P yesterday 😊 , and when I load shots into C1 it does not recognise the camera. It uses the "DNG File Neutral" ICC profile. It does have the Leica M10 as a supported camera, but the EXIF data shows M10-P.

Is this just a case of waiting for an upgrade? As far as I am aware the sensors are the same in the two models.

    Hi,

    I think the best for you is to create a preset with the "Leica M10" as ICC profile and select it when you import your pictures.
    It should work.

    I've also got an M10-P and noticed this too. I have done what Robert has suggested and created a user preset and select this on Import.

    However, I'm not very impressed with the Leica M10 profile, I find it very saturated. Yes I can drop the saturation etc but sometimes I find the adobe neutral a better starting point for my edits. I did have a M10 before the M10-P so this was no surprise to me as they are the same cameras.

    I've started to use my own icc profiles. Been experimenting with a colorchecker and Lumariver, it's early days but I think I may prefer this as a good starting point for my edits.

    If you find Adobe neutral a better starting point you could try using the Linear response option in the Base Characteristics section of the colour tab and see how you get on with that.

    When the M10 was launched, I got some RAW (DNG) pictures from friends and from the Leica website (especially from Maik Scharfscheer). At this time C1 didn't yet offer any ICC profile for this camera, and I used the Adobe DNG neutral with a linear curve, as suggested by Ian, to develop them. I got, to my view, much better results with this process using C1 than the oversaturated (to my mind) jpeg displayed on the Leica website from the RAW files, probably obtained using Lightroom.

    Of course, a tailor-made profile is better, but the Adobe Neutral ICC profile/linear response combo, as suggested by Ian, is not that bad : you start from scratch (a dull, flat image) and can adjust anything you want to obtain the desired result.

    I actually purchased LumaRiver two weeks ago and will create my own profile. I was just surprised that C1 does not recognise the camera as a starting point!

    I'd be interested to hear how you get on with Lumariver. I just took another set of exposures of my colorchecker whilst the sun was out at noon in the UK. My initial tests show a slight variation from the Adobe Neutral profile, however, my initial colorchecker shots were slightly rushed.

    I will also try the Adobe Neutral profile with a Linear curve as Ian3 suggested and see how that goes.

    Digger1914 - I'm pleased you posted this question - Can I ask, If you select the Leica M10 profile manually do you also find the colours to be very saturated, almost radioactive?

    I must admit that the M10 looks very vibrant. Too much so. I will do the LumaRiver tomorrow and see how that fares. It worked very well for my 240.

    I created my profile and am happy with it. One more question - can I apply my icc profile to all files on import? I couldn't see it there. Maybe somehow using a Style? I also could see no way to select multiple files and apply the change to all.

    That is what I've done. My profile is assigned on import. I'm not in front of my computer at the moment. I followed a YouTube video by Martin Bailey on how to create a profile in Lumariver. That may be wort searching for. If you are still unsure I'll be back in front of my mac tomorrow.

    Thanks for this. I must be thick, as I still still cannot see how to automatically use my ICC profile on import. I tried the "Use as default for DNG" option but that is not working. Any help gratefully accepted 😊

    That's ok. I've done this is, but I'm sure there may be another way.

    Have your new ICC Profile selected, Select the 3 horizontal lines in the Base Characteristics tab, then select Save as a User Preset (I only select the tick box for Camera Profile as I use the Auto curve and I think it defaults to that on Import). Give it a name, I name it the same as my ICC profile.

    When Importing - Adjustments Tab, Styles, User Presets, Base Characteristics, and select the name of your preset. I think it may remember this for future imports.
