Exporting files with original import sequence number
From the options I see available, the closest thing that I can do is export with a 2-6 digit counter. This is not really helpful because When I am working with 100+ images, and select a handful to send to a client for proofing, they are all over the number scale. It's not advantageous to have to count through the files to figure out which ones are chosen.
Hopefully that makes sense. Any help would be appreciated.

I have this same question. When I import from the card, I like to keep the original file number associated with the files. That way, it is always easy to refer back to the exact original. Manually restarting the counter as a 4 digit counter when naming on export is not practical. This is simple to do in Lightroom: you simply rename by selecting "Original File Number" as an option in the naming menu. Capture One has every single imaginable delineation from the camera (altitude? really?) but not the one item that would be unique to every single image from the camera. This is the only issue I have where I prefer LR to CapOne. Wish they would fix this. I was hoping it would be fixed with 22..

As long as your image file name from your camera is unique why don't you use it as a token together with the counter token when importing or do a separate batch renaming similar to this:
