Open With Plugin
I have just installed 13.1.1 and my Open With plugin appears not to be working any more.
Obviously the Edit With and Open With menu items are not populated any more.
It's a little bit annoying as I have had only just figured out how to get my apps working through these menus :(
Has anyone got any ideas on how to fix this or am I putting a support request in?

Addendum: From other posts it looks like there is a problem with the Open With Plugin 1.0.1. I have downgraded C1 for the moment, Open With Plugin 1.0.0 has returned and so have my apps.

Your solution was also described in a Spanish web page and it does indeed work for populating the lists of plugins. At least for 13.1.0. :)
Samoreen,I agree with your suggested resolutions to solving the problem permanently. C1 already has an xml file for all of the plugins, so they can certainly easily put a front end of their own design (a normal File Open dialog box) to populate it. They are using some sort of platform independent framework for C1 because they have code for Macs and Windows. These frameworks all have interfaces to the system File Open dialog boxes, and it would take less than a day for a competent programmer to implement it and have it keep their XML for all of the plugins updated. During my attempts to get past this issue, I have manually edited the XML, but it does appear that they simply overwrite it or ignore it. ???
I wrote software for almost 40 years for Linux and Windows and I used a framework for some of that time. So it is frustrating from my point of view. However, that said, their software releases are usually very bug free or do not induce many bugs that I have seen over my limited time with C1. The previous software I used, ON1 PhotoRaw 2020 was at the bottom end of that list. They broke more things then they added and they were so focused on adding "amazing new features" that it felt like they placed bugs on the back burner.

C1 is a Microsoft .Net Framework application. The plugins are also written in a .Net language. The code is not obfuscated, so anyone can decompile it. But it's a complex application and it's not easy to find where the OpenWith plugin fails.
Moreover, it seems that the Windows part of the development team has a limited knowledge of the OS (the whole team appears to be mostly Mac OS oriented). Unfortunately this leads to more problems in the Windows version than in the Mac version. Not only more bugs but also features present in the Mac version that are merely not implemented in the Windows version.

Sorry, I take the following comment back, the team seems to read with :-) [ It doesn't fit the topic of this thread: can someone explain to me why the Capture One team stays out of the community forum and instead has to write support tickets that nobody else notices?
In my opinion this is a bad habit, which unfortunately other software vendors already practice. For example, Axure (a UX design tool) has completely closed the thread for feature requests, so it's only about support.I see many advantages in a joint exchange with the software vendor:
From the response he can see how important a problem or feature is and, if necessary, he can tell all interested parties how to deal with it. So he has to give a feedback to each user separately. And especially the feedback often contains interesting information. And it is more transparent overall.
Of course, there are always a few people who misuse the tone, but that can't be prevented anyway. ]Back to the topic: unfortunately it has also become a bad habit to shift the beta testing onto the user and then not react for weeks if a problem with the update marked as "release" occurs. See forums for Luminar (they're taking the cake) or DxO lab or On1 Raw.
I understand very well that you can't test all system configurations, but then you should react quickly and send an update.
This criticism is - according to my feeling - also true for this problem.
It's just annoying that you can't use the usual "Open with" function, especially in daily doings, but have to go other ways.
And to the general configuration of the "Open with" module I have already written a ticket, but mentioned XnView MP as a model. With Lightroom this is of course well solved.I know that you can always go back to version 13.1.0, but somehow I always think that it must be easy and quick to solve.
Sorry if I get rid of my annoyance here, the other mentioned programs deserved it too.

Oh, God, was I naive. In the meantime I read here in the forum and some other articles about the Capture One support and it becomes clear that I can more or less forget my expectations of the support.
Sure: Support costs money, but the program is not for free. You can expect that at least the serious bugs will be fixed. But apparently some Windows users have been waiting for it for a long time (for years).
Of course, everyone sees the rating "serious" differently.
Let me put it this way: Functions that don't work for all Windows users (with Win 10) should be fixed quickly. Bugs that only occur in certain configurations should be fixed as Prio 2.
It's probably like Luminar: if Capture One didn't have such unique features, some users would already be gone.1 -

I have downloaded version 13.1.3.13 and I can not add any plugins unless it's a .coplugin file. I am trying to add the DXO collection but I can't seem to be able to. Did Capture One revert or am I missing something? I also have the "Open With Plugin" version 1.0.1.
I have tried to look into the folder of the app I like to use but will not allow me to pick a .exe file, only a .coplugin file

Joe,
When you look under plugins do you see the Openwith plugin? This is the only plugin you need to send files out to other applications. If you read back through the thread then you will see images of what the Openwith plugin should look like. The apps you can use to externally edit your images should be listed under this plugin, just make sure the check boxes are selected for the ones you want to use.
If the apps you want to use are not in the list, then you can use the below procedure to make C1 detect the apps. Close C1, run the procedure for each app you find is missing and when you restart C1 then you should see them listed under the Openwith plugin. Make sure the new apps are checked and then you will be able to use through the EditWith and Openwith menu options.

I was doing everything within C1. Didn't realize it was through Windows I had to open it in.
Thank you and now it shows up in C1 on the list.....

No worries, glad you got it working. This has tripped a lot of people up including me when I first moved to C1, I recognised the path you were taking as I remember doing exactly the same things.
It looks like C1 uses Windows associations to determine the 'allowed' apps.

From Windows Explorer find an image folder, select a file, right click on it. Select 'Open with' > 'Choose another app', then scroll to the bottom of the presented list and choose 'More apps'.
Scroll to the bottom of the presented list again and choose 'Look for another app on this PC' and then find and select the application that was NOT initially listed in Capture One ‘open with’ list of apps – eg. This PC > LOCAL DISK (C:) > Program Files > Nik Collection
When the image is again selected in Explorer, right click and choose 'Open with'. The Nik Collection application is now INCLUDED within the available applications listed. In Capture One the related icon and Application should be now listed under the Edit/Open With menu option and also in the Preferences > Plugins”.Kind regards,
