Please use this thread to post suggestions and requests about lens profiles. This thread is monitored, and even though we encourage discussions about profiles (and the prioritization of them), we are not able to actively participate in that discussion.

That is what you said at the beginning of the thread. After more than 2 years, C1 users can also expect a statement from Capture One!

What about the Canon RF lenses?

The lack of support for -- or even a road-map for supporting -- standard Canon RF lenses such as the RF70-200 f4 after a year of requests is very discouraging from CaptureOne.

    Hi Hans-Joachim, hi Peter,

Thank you for your justified statements - which were unfortunately necessary once again. As you can see from my earlier posts, a few months ago I tried to get things moving with an open letter to CEO Rafael Orta (once here in the forum and once via Support) about this as yet unfinished support for many lens profiles. With what result? - Mr Orta personally did not think it was necessary to react, but only sent an employee forward, who then only had to recite the familiar phrases again.

As it turns out, almost all our requests have not been answered and there are no indications as to how this is to continue in the near future. Especially with a view to the CO 2022 version coming out in December 2021, we customers have a right to know whether the frequently requested lens profiles will be included in the update by then at the latest.

What can we do? At first glance, not much - except to make our wishes known here.

At second glance, however, I would like to call for a concerted action today. Like this: Send many, many requests to CEO Rafael Orta and ask for a statement. If only one person does this (as I did), it is likely that it will have no effect, but if many of us do it at the same time via a support request, something positive might happen - for example, a statement from Capture One about how they are meeting the great demand for lens profiles and, above all, whether and when they will do it. It would be important that everyone who does so informs us here in the forum, because then a wave could be set in motion that could no longer be ignored.

And there is another possibility: Please write - as I am going to do now - to the YouTubers Paul Reiffer and David Grover and ask them to support our justified wishes. Both have a large sphere of influence and very good relations with the Capture One company. Please also use their livestreams to convey our concerns.

    Hello,

I was told by your support that if there is no profile for a Canon RF lens, that I could select 'Manufacturer Profile' which reads the corrections embedded in the lens firmware. I checked and I do not see a 'Manufacturer Profile' option for any of the three RF lenses that I own.

***Can you please add the compatibility to read the manufacturer profiles while we wait for your profiles of RF lenses?***

I would like CO profiles for:

    • Canon RF 100-500 f/4.5-7.1L
    • Canon RF 14-35 f/4L

    Thank you

This lens has become my go to lens in a studio environment. When you shoot with apertures between 8-11 this is an unbelievable allrounder. Done multi day commercial fashion shoots without changing the lens once.

    Dear Luka
yes I sent a letter with requests to the CEO Rafael Orta. And not an open letter, not an email. But one addressed to him personally as a normal letter with a stamp.
I'm curious to see if there will be a reaction and what it will look like.

    Dear Hans-Joachim

thank you for your message. It is good to know that there are others who are not satisfied with the unsatisfactory answers from Capture One here in this forum. However, I am very surprised that so far there are only a few who have contacted the CEO Rafael Orta, as we have. What other choice do we have, given Capture One's inaction to date.

So, all fellow sufferers, write to Rafael Orta too and ask for better lens profile support.

This system can never work. Adobe tried it too by removing the lens profile creator application but now it is available yet again - this means that even for such a giant as Adobe it is impossible to keep up with the demand of lens profiles unless the community is also able to create custom profiles.

They have a software called Adobe Lens Profile Creator which is FREE and anyone can use to create new lens profiles. This way anyone in the community can contribute. This software is still available at the time of writing this comment.

    https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/digital-negative.html#resources

    That's what we need!

This endless forum that only creates frustration is useless without a way for the community to create our own profiles.

And yes, we could still post on the forum but since community-made profiles would be available, the frustration on the forum would decrease dramatically.

With such a tool, manufacturers would also be able to create lens profiles. For example, Irix does it for their lenses - they provide the profiles for download on their site.

    Hi Darius,

I see it completely differently than you do. Adobe, for example, has long been able to support the Canon RF profiles in Photoshop and Lightroom Classic, which are also frequently requested here in the forum. It is the task of the manufacturer of an image processing to ensure that lens profiles are provided by him for his software, because his customers also pay for it.

    Luka,

Are manufacturers able to provide CO Lens profiles? From what I know, they cannot - but I may be wrong here. It would be great if they could.

See Irix for example, they only provide the profiles for Adobe because they have the tools to do so. With CO, only CO team has control over lens profiles apparently and there are no available tools for creating profiles.

With lightroom I can for example hire somebody to create a profile for any lens if I so choose, or even do it myself. However most often than not this is not necessary as for most lenses there are already profiles out there.
