Canon EOS R5 Support
ImplementedI am guessing this is already being worked on, but I did not see a formal feature request for it. So, please add support for Canon EOS R5. Thanks!
-
I too am hoping for rapid support of the R5! C’mon developers we’re counting on you.
2 -
Come on team! Let’s get this moving!

R5 support now.
Please.

Kelvin, et al.
Be aware that is is a long standing policy of Phase One not to comment on future developments nor make promises on time scales.
Right or wrong in your opinion and the opinion of others that is their choice to date.
Maybe you could ask Canon to ensure that all non-affiliated Photo editing software developers (especially those also offering full control tethering) have access to new production models of bodies and lenses well in advance of public release so that they can make the changes to their programs and files and have them available on a schedule that suits early adopters.
I note also that Canon are reported as claiming very high demand and therefore a shortage of product to satisfy the demand. In some situations that may make things more difficult for anyone trying to obtain production samples for testing and development. Unless the manufacturer can be "helpful" in that situation.

EOS R5 support asap please.

It is a disappointing policy and potentially a deal breaker when version 21 comes out. I have been such an advocate of capture one with my colleagues, but this really poor communication is nothing other than disappointing.

Kelvin,
Not sure what you mean. Even Adobe has yet to update Lr and Ps with R5/6. It usually takes a few weeks minimum for them to get the camera and process the profiles. I was being slightly facetious with my initial post; I just wanted C1 to know that there were many eager R5/6 users hungry to tether/edit on their app. But this time frame is usual. I just wish the big camera companies would get production bodies out to them before the public release but that doesn't seem to be the case, given that the biggest of them all, Adobe, still haven't released an update.

Really interesting that you compare C1s inability to communicate it’s efforts to support its loyal clients with its major competitors. Adobe have made it possible for us to work around a lack of RAW support. C1 have done nothing. The work around for C1 customers is to use the completions work around. How ironic.

Kelvin (love your name, by the way!),
I guess I just don't think it's that much of a big deal. They have, in the passed, taken a few weeks to a month to update, and it's been pretty consistent. And I guess I'm also reacting to the fact that I feel C1 is so superior to Lr, love the tethering, the workflow, the results, and have been quite happy with customer service (although I do wish one could talk to them on the phone as opposed to needing to send a support ticket and wait), so I guess this just feels "normal," for lack of a better phrase.
Maybe I'm a fanboy. I apologize; didn't mean to criticize. I guess them being silent isn't a good thing, either, but I Tweeted them and they responded quite nicely, even without being detailed their response:
"Thanks for letting us know! We'e forwarded your tweet internally, so the teams aware of your interest in this camera support too. Stay updated!"
I feel like that was a pretty positive and service-oriented response. I hope I'm right. LOL

Hi,
Thank you for all the comments.
The request to have Canon EOS R5 support in future versions of Capture One has been forwarded to the Product Management team.

@Lily This is the only dev board in the world where forwarding a request means "complete". You should not be marking them complete unless they are actually complete. I understand these things take a little time, but I just checked for updates and this request is not complete.

Capture One Core Team: are you all on vacation for summer holiday while we want support for Canon R5 raw files? What did you do since month while Canon promotes the R5 model? The R5 was announced well ahead the final launch.
2 -
When will R5 raw files can open in C1 ver20 ?
2 -
> The R5 was announced well ahead the final launch.
And did Canon send R5 with final firmware to P1 to work on support well ahead the launch ?-1 -
I got an early version of the 1DX3 and it was the same story. It took about 3 weeks from the time I got it till the COP update. So I would assume its not too far away. I'm hoping it's soon as I would really like to get an idea of how good the still images are off my R5 by comparing like for like with my other cameras (ie COP ecosystem not the Canon software).

Looking forward to this update!

Tim,
I think you completely miss the point of a "Feature Request" forum and the way such facilities need to be manages to be meaningful.
Be that as it may the "Request", in terms of what the forum style offers, is just that. A Request. It's not a promise for action. (although in this case I think the world of photography would be amazed if Capture One was never to support a new primary flagship Canon model ... but hey, who knows. ...)
SO this thread, ,and may like it are more than a little redundant and fill Lily's day advising people that the request has been noted and forwarded to development. Along with all of the others.
So the task, such as it is - a request for something - is indeed Complete and will be considered by the development team.
Maybe if the forum allows different words to be associated with posts if could be left as "Forwarded" for public consumption.
It would make no difference to the process being followed. Indeed this type of request probably make not difference to the process and time scale of delivering what is required. With something obscure it might speed things along. With a mainstream product - I doubt it could make any difference. Unless there is a problem getting the equipment for testing. In which case better to shout at Canon?
On a positive note it's nice to know that in these troubling times there seem to be a lot of people out there with money to blow on new, relatively high end photographic hardware.
I'm sure C1 will be encouraged by that when V21 arrives.
Canon too, maybe?
Perhaps they will engage with C1 and create an option for a Capture One for Canon sub-version? If enough people ask them.

Ok we need to know if this is going to happen! It’s been weeks now. Can we please have some kind of indication if this feature is being worked on or not so we can plan ahead! It’s not like it’s some mysterious special feature, you could at least let the community know if this is planned to be supported. When is the next update likely to arrive? Days weeks, months? Please let us know and engage with us more! I’m not happy about being left in the dark after supporting capture one for so long! Thanks.

A really bad news- i ask them in instagrams
״ Hey! It possible to get a hint how much it going to take? Days/weeks/months?״Their answer : Hey there. I can’t say for sure, but it will take some time.
Looks like we will need to use canon software for some time 😥

Can we get an idea of how long it's going to take to have the EOS R5 working with C1 PLEASE!!!

Hi!
I understand that good work needs time.
I understand that that it’s August.

They have done the job.
I don’t want Lightroom.
Please Please please: hurry up.
I cannot use my camera and it p. me really of.
Update please .
What you really achieved now: I will have a look on Lightroom.
Just to be sure next time I buy a new Camera.
I work as a photographer it’s not my hobby.2 -
The DNG converter has been in beta for 2 to 3 weeks. As of today, Lightroom and Photoshop fully support Canon's R5.
Adobe did its job quickly. Where is Phase One?

Can we get an idea of how long it's going to take to have the EOS R5 working with C1 PLEASE!!!
In short, no, you can't. As with every other camera Capture One has ever supported, you'll find out when it happens and not before.
