V21 clone tool
Does the clone tool work any better in V21?
-
Nothing in the release notes about it.
Seems the same to me.0 -
Was there a particular problem with the clone tool that you had in mind?

It's very slow, making it tedious to cover anything but a spot; unlike PS, it doesn't show a 'preview', so getting any edges aligned in an image is a trial-and-error process. And sometimes, it just fails, and lays down pixels that don't match the source - darker, for example.

If it's laying down pixels that don't match the source, are you perhaps using Heal not Clone?

I always start by right-clicking on the Add Layer icon and selecting "new clone layer".

OK. So with a Clone layer, you then Alt-Click somewhere for a source, and then paint to get an exact copy. With Heal you don't get an exact copy, you get it adapted by Capture One to try to blend it in with the lightness of the target area. So I would certainly expect to see the lightness match if you are using Clone.
Can you perhaps post a screen shot showing an example of where it doesn't?
Also, is the brush opacity and flow at 100%

I work with flow at 100%. Didn't even know what 'flow' was about until recently.
Next time I try the tool I'll pay even closer attention and maybe discover something. I see there's another thread going on right now about clone problems so I'll follow that one; I've seen others in the past.
In general I haven't seen that posting details about a problem here gets any response from Phase One, and I'm sure bug reports have been filed on Clone. I was hoping they'd done better with it in V21 but so far, no reports.
There's literally nothing for me in V21 except a Dehaze tool so I won't be buying it.0
