    Jim,

Manual import you can keep the name of the file as produced by thecamera if you wish.

Personally I find it useful (and more likely unique) to add something meaningful to that name when importing.

If you are tethering in full tether mode the camera Historically and in the majority of cases for most cameras today)  is not saving the file and therefore is not naming the file, so you have options for using your preferred naming convention within Capture One.

My camera is set to keep the file on the card as well on the computer. I prefer to keep the original name. So the only way to keep the original name is to import manually? During tether there’s no way to keep the Original file name? What if I decide I want to shoot JPEG’s only to the computer just for crews and keep the original intact on the cameras card? Then, when the client has chosen its favorites to be edited, I can refer back to the original file names rather than the renamed file names. If they are renamed, I have no point of reference.

    Jim,

Which camera are you using for tethering? Some recent cameras offer a connection mode that seems to allow wider options.

Or you can use the "Hot Folder" option in C1 to access files from the camera shot on the camera (or its native remote control software) but downloaded to the computer via the camera.

I’m sorry, I should’ve mentioned that. I may have posted this somewhere else. I’m using a Fujifilm XT3. I have it set to USB Auto which allows image to save to the card and the computer. The other option is USB Fixed which only saves it to the computer.
