Migrating from Lightroom to Capture One - how to include the GPS data?
Hi, I'm moving over from Lightroom to Capture One and because most of my photos haven’t got embedded GPS meta data and Capture One not yet allowing me to add the coordinates manually, I did it all in Lightroom.
First I was happy to see the GPS data moved over, but after reboot, it was gone…
Unfortunaley it seems like this Lightroom to Capture One import action exclude the GPS data.
One option could be to write extra XMP files – but i got thousands of photos. After import, I have deleted all the XMP files, but also the GPS data was gone again… Doesn't seem to be merged into the Capture One’s library file.
I don’t want to write the GPS data into the RAW files either.
So what's the best workflow, to get all the GPS data from Lightroom into Capture One?

It seems that C1 won't allow the editing of certain parts of the EXIF data, in fact it looks like only Basic Exif data is editable. To be honest I hadn't noticed this as I tend to use IPTC having captioned everything in Photo Mechanic Plus, added the links to the files into the catalogue, and then added them into C1.
Cameras that support GPS data either directly or from a linked phone will likely write the data to the EXIF part of the image. What I can tell is if C1 support the Location Data from IPTC which can be linked within PhotoMechanic Plus and written directly to the RAW file rather than a sidecar.
Maybe the C1 manual can shed some light on this? Just noted this from the excellent Photographers Guide to Capture One 21 Book

thanks for the reply. i know, know. so far it’s not possible to add geo date manually in C1.
not sure if it's really necessary for all images, but i got some panoramic images which I've made with a older camera without bluetooth / gps transmitter. so it would be good to store this date with also these images.
i could do it with other software – but i don't wat to do all the work twice. same for my aperture library…
