Color Calibration tool equivalent to Lightroom
Not currently plannedAs illustrated in these two videos, Lightroom has a very powerful Color Calibration tool that globally affects colors (akin to "color science"). It seems like a very useful tool that would be great to have in Capture One as well, since C1 has a big focus on it's color capabilities.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for the suggestion - this is not something we are currently working on.This does not mean this is a bad suggestion or that it will never be adressed, but in an effort of transparency we want you to know that we are not currently allocating resources to solving this issue.
We will revisit the status of this thread if and when it changes.

So in my opinion Capture One is clearly a superior software compared to lightroom when considering the level of thoroughness that you can reach with your adjustments. Not to mention the library and export system that I think is simply amateurish in Lightroom.
HOWEVER, the lack of a calibration tool still to this day is inexplicable. There is no tool as far as I'm aware that works in the same way i.e. targeting colours based on their pixel component rather than merely working on the resulting colour.
Excuse me, how do you think people can switch to your software if they have to reinvent their workflow point-blank?
Please help! I'd really like to use Capture One moving forward but the lack of a calibration tool is suggesting me otherwise.3 -
Hi, just saw a mind blowing video from Mark Denney and i want Calibration in Capture One!!

Any update on this? This is the only tool holding my back from switching!

It says Completed. So where I can find this feature in Capture One?

Great comment Ian.
As the title indicates the features was suggested/requested as a future feature. Nothing more, nothing less.2 -
It will be such a nice thing to have the Lightroom’s color calibration tool equivalent in capture one, I think that a lot of people will agree. Please, will it be possible one day, because 2 years ago you said that the development team will see that?
Thanks

Hey Skott, I’ve actually never seen them mention this could be a thing for the future, over the past five years. Actually I’ve always heard them look down on adding such a feature. The crazy thing is, you can create a camera calibrated profile from Lightroom and apply/import it as a profile in base characteristics in c1. So it would be nice to just be able to have the sliders in c1 instead of going through all that trouble.

+1 for this tool.

None of the tools in capture one can do what the color calibration does. It manipulates the output of the individual color channels at the color profile level. I've tried to get the effect with the tools in c1 but it's just not possible.

Thanks Gustav and Maryna, I am here as well after watching Jamie Windsor video and hoping to have the calibration tool or something similar in the next version of C1.

The color calibration tool in LR is also essential to my workflow. The new masking tools have also made it hard for me to want to switch to C1 fully.
1 -
Yes, André, I get that, and of course you can suggest such a feature.
My comment was a response to Cody Cobb basically telling us that Lightroom is essential to his workflow.

+1 request for color calibration tool in Capture One! This is extremely useful instrument for working with color. There is no such instrument in capture one now that can replace it.

Yes please ! 🙏

I'm just here to bump this up. It would be a great addition to C1

Throwing my hat into the ring for this tool. There are some very specific looks you can get using this tool in LR that I haven't been able to replicate in C1. We really need an equivalent to this tool in C1.

What a rude comment especially from a moderator. The color calibration tool in lightroom isn't actually being used for profile calibration it's being used for creative effect. Yes you can easily use a color checker with capture one and I have one but that's not what's being discussed here. You can't manipulate the color profile inside c1 in real time and see the result like you can with the calibration tool in lightroom

Moved from the archive on 22.05.23.
Hi Gustav,
Thank you for your feedback on Capture One - we appreciate the time you've taken to contribute to the development of the software.
I have forwarded your suggestions to our Product Management team as something to consider in a future release. Hopefully, your feedback contributes towards a future version of Capture One.
Though we cannot comment on future releases and the features to be added, we recommend keeping an eye on this article - click Follow next to the title of the article to stay up to date with new features and improvements.0 -
Adding another +1 to this feature request.

I switched back to Lightroom because all the presets I have ever used look much better in Lightroom.
Capture One loses out on a huge audience that can't switch because their presets don't convert over.
Same with LUTs. I can export my Lightroom preset as a LUT and it makes my videos look just like my photos. I can't do that with Capture one.
Hope they add this soon. Not paying for the next version of Capture One now because I don't use it as much, even though I love Capture One much more than Lightroom.0 -
ABSOLUTELY! This is my biggest concern over capture one and it makes me prefer Lightroom... defenetely hoping to see the color calibration tool on cap one 22. I'll wait another two months for it and if they don't make it I'll just stick to Lightroom. Also, the saturation tool works as vibrancy in the positive direction but it works as a common saturation tool in the negative direction. I need a vibrancy slider that works as vibrancy both ways as in Lightroom.

What is your motivation to stop using Lightroom?

I think they say completed when the suggestion has been put into the hands of the developers for consideration, in other words, your suggestion has been heard and passed on.

I am on the fence between LR and C1.
The two areas that make me favour LR over C1 are the advanced AI masking and more importantly the calibration tool in LR.
Fingers crossed these two areas will be addressed with a future update soon especially as I miss the amazing sorting/cataloging features in C1 now that I decided to invest into LR.

So if you prefer Lightroom, use Lightroom.

Point take 😉

I don't understand this is already possible! Look at the color editor and the odly named Skin Tone tool which can be used to shift colors and pull colors together.
Then you have the color balance tool. What else is needed?
I cannot see anthing which Lightroom does better?
