This change was totally unnecessary. Please revert it and make everyone’s life easier again.

Fully agree, we are sticking to earlier versions as this change makes our work flows so much more complicated.

Fully agree too! Working with this extra window disturbs normal workflow, where it was possible to export some files and meanwhile the images where rendered you could handle other pics. Now your blocked by the window.

I deleted the new version and went back to 14.2.....

Absolutely horrible that you took this functionality away.  It is one of the most useful features you have and you just removed it without giving us something as good or better than what you took away.

    I won't be upgrading.

a firestorm at DPR would maybe have motivated them to officilly react but this did not happen. the 50 votes here are buried in a few weeks and forgotten. no other company in this field is so condescending,  arrogant and unwilling to communicate on the same level with their user as c1, the only feedback they are interested in is cheering. as professionals we have no voice in this game anymore,  we are not a business factor for this accountants and money sharks.

Wait and see. They actually spoke about a reaction soon on their YouTube channel "as we will come with a statement within the next two weeks."

The statement will no doubt be along the lines of 'the majority of feedback has been overwhelmingly positive for what has been a much requested feature...'

How exactly is removing a useful feature (Process Queue) in the 'interest of making the best software we can'? Typical canned response.

I notified them of a major bug in the catalog import, it strips custom ICC profiles from sessions created from past versions of C1. Effects 2 million raw files in the case of our studio. They acknowledged the bug with caveat that I shouldn't expect a fix in the next version. Seems like rather a big bug but of course it's one which doesn't effect their current goal market place so it was neither noticed during testing or high up on the priority list. Regardless of the two weeks it took to get a reply from my support case, I used to get replies within 24 hours in the old days. Not that it helped much. The inability to reorder files in the process queue on a PC (worked on Mac) was reported by me from version 6. It wasn't fixed till version 13 and even then was extremely buggy and now the process queue is gone altogether.

I think we have to face it, as pro's, we no longer count. I wonder if they'll fix the aforementioned ICC profile import bug by removing the ability to use custom ICC profiles? Sounds about right.

Before. Go back with old version.
    After. Firing the idiots.
After all. Apologize for all the stolen time.

@Nicolas Det you're the master of calmness and patience! :) I think what a lot of use are finding particularly irritating is C1's silence on the issue (even if a statement is coming in some weeks time). It could only be a good thing if C1 came out quickly with either "we hear you but we're committed to the new popup" (in which case we can all make our decisions on which software currently suits our needs), or "we hear you and we're working on a new beta keeping the popup and restoring the export panels but it won't be available before ......" (in which case we can all try to adopt your patient approach!)

Not knowing is worse than knowing the worst! Right now C1 are not doing a very good job of managing expectations and that's certainly compounding the frustrations many of us are feeling.

    Hi Simon,

I can clearly see how important this is. Rest assured that we receive a lot of similar feedback from all channels and the development team is aware of this!

Well, there is no hurry on my side for now: CaptureOne 14.2, my computers and my cameras are working great and the same way as for one week.

I would feel more inpatient if my workflow would stop working at all. No new cameras is planed in the upcoming years, no new computers either.

I do feel CaptureOne will react in a positive way from this. I do have better feeling for not too big and European company as I had for Adobe..

like your optimism Nicolas, but adobe is by far more accessible than c1. in fact c1 is surprisingly snobbish for company selling a bug infested niche software and c1 is in the hands of people which have only one real interest make as much money as possible and then sell it.

...and btw the development team is aware of a lot of unfixed problems, this is not the first one.

I do not like the new way this works the way I edit and export on the fly changing settings many times from image to image this new way makes editing much slowing now. It makes no sence to do it like this.

Please ad this back to the main panel area like it was. Going to another page just to chaneg a setting on every few photos as i am editing is not productive.

we hear you... was about time

seems mr.orta does not have a good start...   sometimes being an expert in online marketing only is not enough to run a company successfully, especially when you have a team of kids which also have no clue what professional photography really is and confuse it with their "creative" ambassadors and influencer.

Mr Orta... ok ok, if you wanna develop C1 softwares with your babies, no problem.

Downloaded old C1 version and just in case last Lightroom. Yes... Adobe... probably it's time to go back.

    Gentlemen:

My hair is on fire. And here’s why. The “new improved exporter” in Capture One 21 (14.3.0.260 running on macOS 11.5) has rendered Capture One Pro 21 unusable for me. And here’s why. I typically take a number of photographs, renumber the photos in the order that they were taken, edit the photos, create a Smart Album that contains a subset of images that I want to publish manually ordered in the order that I want to publish said photographs --- not the file name order in which they were taken. For years I have been successfully appending a sequential counter to the front of the image file name to preserve the order of the Smart Album. No problem ---- until now. See attached Image_1 that contains the manual order of the images in the Smart Album and the order that I want to publish the images. See attached Image_2 that contains the order of the images in the “new improved exporter” ----- the images are ordered by file name, not the order of the Smart Album. See attached Image_3 that gives the file names of the exported images ---- they are not in the order of the images in the Smart Album --- i.e., Image_1. Can you see my problem?

Capture One is now useless for me to process, edit, and export images in anything other than the file name order. This “new improved exporter” is a GIANT step backwards. Can you please revert to the previous exporter ---- it was just fine --- and it worked. The current exporter does not work.

    Hi,

I signed the petition, too, in order to bring back the output tool tab.

From a perspective of product development, to remove a feature like the output tool tab makes no sense at all. Usually features get removed, when there is empirical evidence that users do not utilize them. In this case, the feature is heaviliy used, obviously. So, why decide to remove the output tool tab altogether? Just make it a flag in the preferences like "advance setting: activate output tool tab". Like this, all the users who wish to still use the tab can do so. And the other users, who cannot handle different export options are not too confused anymore. ;-)

If Capture One is not bringing the output tool tab back, Capture One as a product is loosing some real value.

    Kind regards,
    Patick

    Signed petition.

C1 is now a hinderance rather than help to my business with this current version.

Just another person chiming in to say I WILL NOT BE UPDATING capture one until this issue is completely fixed and the output tab and features restored.  This issue is so important to my workflow that I will actively make sure not to update my gear, OS or anything else that will jeopardize my access to the output tab as it previously existed.

No professional wants to have to open a new window to do something that used to be integrated.  It is contrary to all conventional wisdom of on set digital asset management.

THEY STILL DON'T HAVE AN OPTION TO DUPLICATE A LOCAL ADJUSTMENT LAYER and this is what they call an update!?

Make a prosumer version if the market is so hot for it, your price point isn't appropriate for it anyway.  Anyone who finds the output tab confusing or hard to use should not be using this level of software or simply needs to learn the basics.  There is NO GOOD REASON to remove existing functional features.  AT WORST they should be hidden so that professionals (who likely customize their workspace anyway) can re-setup how they like it.  Taking it away completely is absolute lunacy.

A comment from a representative of the category of extra users that this change may be trying to reach.

These users are not going to be casual users who'll not spend the money this software costs, but will rather use one of several free or much cheaper alternatives that would address their simplistic needs just fine.

These users that would pay the price of this software are "enthusiast" advanced users, with sophisticated workflows almost as complex as professional photographers (albeit with nowhere near the sizes...), and are dedicated enough to learn how to use professional tools.

My hobbies are photography, birdwatching and tourism, and I take the processing of my photos (especially of birds, but also touristic landscapes, citiscapes, street, macro) very seriously: getting them "perfect" with Capture One, also with all the complex metadata that I manage as part of a wider workflow with other tools, is an integral part of the enjoyment of my hobbies. I imagine the same applies to virtually all other hobbyists that use a professional, complex, advanced tool like Capture One to complement their photographic adventures.

I installed the 14.3 version on my PCs, and immediately noticed the Output tab was gone, and with it the process queue. I then read the release notes, and avoided "upgrading" my many sessions and few catalogs (I use the excellent hybrid approach described so well in some of your youtube videos). I have an empty session and an empty catalog that I use first, whenever I suspect I might not like the "upgraded" results, like in this case.

The output tab and process queue were just perfect, and as advanced as they need to be. During a few years I created recipes and perfected a workflow that is like clockwork, smooth, fast, reliable, even convenient. Sometimes I tweak it a little. The Output tab, process queue and associated tools are an essential part of this.

I refuse to re-learn how to do this, and to "convert" (that means, re-implement) what I did painstakingly and perfectly to a new capricious format that has no reason to exist to the detriment of what worked. You could have added it, but not replacing the old workflow. You'll attract no new users with your dumbing down the interface and workflow, at the same cost. And by the way, a workflow without an "output" as prominent as all its other essential steps just seems wrong to me: I look at the UI and wonder: where's the output? why do I even have to look for it, and under another name, in menus? why does it not jump out at me like the import, the tethered capture, and all the adjustment steps, each in their own tabs?

I think both the average casual user and average enthusiast user deciding if they want to shell out a significant amount for Capture One will skip it, not seeing advanced output processing features, which are as essential as the adjustments: why pay for a dumbed down product when there are free or much cheaper alternatives (see what XnView MP can do, for instance) that cover the same non-professional needs? I can't speak for professional photographers as I'm not one, but it seems you managed to annoy many of them. The change.org petition already has almost 500 signatures.

Besides refusing to re-learn and re-implement (which may be characterized as "laziness" but I call economy with my time), there are some clear, cleat-cut defects, just with regard to this output tab / process queue debacle, in this 14.3 release that for me simply qualify as regressions, including:

    - the added modal window. Whoever approved this, is not a real user of the product. Who does not hate unnecessary modal windows in software in 2021? if you don't, you're not doing much with the program. Almost this one alone is for me a deal breaker. I can only imagine the extra blocking step is deliberately targeted at "simple" users who may otherwise be confused as of what's happening!

    - the two removed tokens. Why on earth would you remove two tokens that certainly lots of users have come to depend on in their workflows, and force them to work around your seemingly capricious choice?

    - the removed process queue. Just a simple counter will suffice for simple users, but all others want to see much more detail in the progress when needed, and be able to pause, resume, stop or delete items from it. The process queue (or batch queue) and its functionality (including the process history), quietly doing their thing well in the background but available with full control when needed, was just awesome.

When is removing advanced features that you know your customers are using, a good idea? And I'm not even mentioning some far more serious issues that actual professional photographers have reported in the thread, but which are most likely connected (same code change sets) to 2 of the 3 regressions above.
Professionals should have a way to charge you back the time you're wasting them. Even if it was possible to prefectly replicate the previous workflow, it would still be an unnecessary, tedious, error-prone and time-consuming burden that you put on your main users: both photography professionals and enthusiast advanced users. Why? Because.

I will now "downgrade" back to 14.2 and most likely never upgrade or pay again for this software unless the Output tab and process queue are brought back: basically all as in 14.2, plus if you really have to, your new "Exporter" stuff which I'll likely never even look at. Version 14.2 already supports all the (Sony) cameras that I may ever want to buy in the next 5 years.

If you have spare development capacity, why not spend some of it on improving your metadata (especially keywords) management? Other professional products (Photo Mechanic) are much stronger on this than Capture One, and I also have to implement an extra step after Capture One (which would otherwise be the very last step) with exiftool to remedy your broken XMP (that is, XML) processing which I've reported in extreme detail to support a long time ago.
