Capture One Live is very disappointing.
I really can't understand why they are charging $10 per month just for Capture One Live? Why not part of monthly and annual subscription? Is it really that different from Capture Pilot which is free to use? I know it will disconnect the sever once you quit the software but does it really worth $10 for Capture One Live?
Furthermore, I already tested Capture One Live since beta but overall, it's disappointing:
1. The loading speed is slow especially right after you share your session with full of images.
2. There is no way to sort images with specific setting. Number and color are not everything and you can't reverse.
3. 7 days limitation is really short. You may say just reactivate it, but can you really do that with tons of sessions every single time?
4. Not really syncing in real time. I made some adjustments from Capture One Pro but it never appleid to the web or cloud even I kept refreshing the web page.
5. No commenting feature.
6. Zoomed in quality isn't great.
7. Even Capture Pilot mobile version has more features than Capture One Live such as camera control.
8. And more...
I know that they are going to improve it by adding more features in future but then why not now? Did they admit that they are not ready to release it? It's just another Capture Pilot to me.
The most important thing is, you only have 5 sessions to use Live. After that, you have to pay no matter what you do. Which means, It wont count back after you stop sharing the session! Eventually, they are forcing you to pay $10 per month.
At this point, I have no idea why they are doing this with Capture One Live and it isn't worth $10. I expected much more from them and this is really disappointing. Adobe has many cloud features already and this Live feature isn't great at all. If this is how they plan and develop, it just proves that they have no idea what they are doing.

also hoped this would bring some kind of sync function so we can work on different machines including mobile devices and have the settings synchronised. when such a function is not added with the release of the iPad version then the iPad version is kind of useless for me and probably for many other professionals.
again it seems they ignore what is already established and can't deliver, match either. I really don't understand what kind of business field they had in mind with such limited functionality. like with the botched HDR/pano tools photographers who depend on such functions have already established a working setup so to move to this service they need to show more.

I hope I’m wrong, but my fear is that C1 for iPad is just going to be a kind of CaptureOne Express on iOS with no custom cloud connectivity options at all. Just a stand-alone app with maybe some Camera Roll integration.
If that is the case, I think it will be the end of the road for me and C1. In 2022 I don’t want to be chained to a desktop.
I really hope I’m wrong!

the fear is justified considering the low level of performance the development team has show in the last years, getting the iPad version right would be a miracle. i'm also totally tired of their we fix or improve it later attitude.

Updated to 15.1 and I can no longer see capture one live tool? Where did they hide it

Okay just found it, its now it's own icon, not sure why it's no longer a floating tool, apparently the folks at C1 HQ enjoy playing games like guess where we have randomly moved a feature you've been using for 6 months is now. Also can't seem to upgrade to unlimited live sessions. Ugh!

Tbh, I am not surprised about being charged additionally. Since it's a common practice for capture one.
The feature is a good idea, and I am using it for at least 20 shoots already, and works really well for me. But unfortunately, this feature is too simple to cost $10/month. only rating and color tagging? Seriously?
My customer asked me yesterday to share the screen via zoom instead and give him access to screen control so he can rename files at least. Like common couldn't you add that at least? Or wait sorry, I think you are more likely going to charge an extra $10 for renaming.
On top of everything, today I tried to go unlimited for Live, and guess what.. you can't do that. I surfed the entire website upside down and couldn't find it.
Also, I have a live feature only on one Mac, and it's not showing on the second one.
Whatever.. as always.. nothing is changing except the prices.

$10/month for such a limited feature set seems absurd. You can get Photoshop w/ Lightroom for the same price.
Hoping in a future update for threaded commenting and a way to draw annotations that sync with the current annotation feature.

Brandon Shigeta/ I think Adobe has more cloud services and features for $10 including LR and PS which is a great deal. $24 + $10 for Capture One Pro is really expensive than before.
Capture One Live is not yet ready and it misses so many features. I dont see any differences from Capture Pilot other than cloud/server feature. Asking $10 for this? They really out of their mind. This is very concerning situation.

the concerning situation is the normal with this app.....

lol, I was looking at this video and the comment is deleted or disappeared by Capture One Pro who complained about Live with monthly payment. Is this how they treat photographers? This is very unprofessional to me, Capture One. If you are not listening customers like this, how am I suppose to trust you?

the attitude of this company will never changed so what do you aspect ? they can hide negative postings on YouTube but they can not avoid the market reality.

Been using Capture One Live and after 2500 images the system just stops?? Is there a cap on images per session. Very frustrating, the stopping and starting of the sharing is also not possible, ran into a situ where my wifi dropped out and basically you're screwed if that happens.
Also after you start a live session you have no way of changing what photos in what folder are being shared, that is straight up dumb. Frankly LIVE worked better in BETA then it does now, why the heck did you move it out of being a separate tool panel?? Just idiotic, classic capture one

the big nothing or how this CEO still does not understand the market but is great in substance-less wording, no suprise things are as they are with c1

"keeping its ear to the ground on what its users want to see next"
Ohhh!!! There's the problem!! They're trying to see with their ears!!!! That's why we never get the features we want!

this whole article is written to please and to make them look like they have accomplished something really important which is kind of funny but what is most telling is what he does not say in this interview. so I very much think that's it no improvements will come.

I've started paying but with a feeling of distaste. I pay $9.99 for the WHOLE of PS+ and here I am, paying the same for a single tool. Can not help but feel taken advantage of.

I agree. I'm relatively new to C1, and I think this is a good feature to offer and continue to develop. $10 a month though when your monthly subscription price is already twice as much as the LR/PS combo Adobe offers?

It is terribly raw product. Starting with dead feedback link on the gallery page.
It is unusably slow on 3-4G connection. I tried it on a client shoot and... I should have sticked to zoom or something like that.
You can't filter based on ratings anything but first 28 photos. If you want to sort more - press "load more" as many times as you need to load whole gallery and then try to filter. It may work. May not. You never know...
You have no idea how far your online version is behind the tethered version. No progress bar, no status, nothing. It just gives a glimpse of some percentages in the beginning and then just disappears.
Client ratings may be synced, may not. You never know, again.
As a fun product to test with your friends photographers - may be. As a tool - gosh, no, no! Don't even touch it. You'll hate it, your client will hate the process, you will need to say billion of "sorry, I used the new promising tool, but now you have to go through whole selection process again...", then suddenly ratings will appear, again, noone knows why.
And you will pay $10 to participate in an exclusive club of beta testers.0 -
Just tested from my studio with low resolution previews:
1) Put all photos in Session Capture folder
2) Waited for them to appear in C13) Started sharing
4) Ensured that sharing started (2 seconds per one 2000x1500 photo)..... and went to sleep ....
5) Woke up in 8 hours: sharing disabled, client can't see images
What is your use scenario? What was idea behind the workflow?

Unless I am missing something, there does not seem to be a way to sort a live gallery by filename... it seems to only sort by the date the image was created. Has anyone found a way to change how a live gallery is sorted?
