Make image sorting default to sorting chronoligically by time shot, or at least a sticky default setting in prefs
I can't think of a single situation where I would want my photos to be sorted by name rather than time, and it is a constant hassle having to manually change C1 from sorting by name (which it seems like it defaults to) rather than time (and yes, you should change the term from "date" to "time", as "time" is more fitting for professional photographers which frequently have several shoots per day)
PS: I use sessions, otherwise I would expect the sorting setting to stay put within the same catalogue. But I make a new session for every shoot, and have to go through this in every new session, which makes this into a real pain you-know-where.

Morton,
FIle name and Date/Time order are usually common UNLESS you are shooting multiple cameras (ideally accurately time synchronised) or the internal shot numbering loops around.
Are you mainly looking at tethered studio shoots or untethered shoots?
The simplest thing to do would probably be to set the import to name the files with a date and time prefix if changing the sort order is not welcome.
That said, once in a session the any changed default settings should be sticky based on the dynamic user configuration settings for the session.
I checked the options for creating a session template in the expectation that a template might include settings like the default browser sort order but had no luck. Perhaps the Sessions template concept could be augmented to include such values and make session creation faster and more comprehensive?

I am doing both tethered and untethered depending on the situation, but I want photos to be displayed in the chronological order they were shot regardless. But C1 always defaults to sorting by name. I can't think of a single situation where I'd want that.

And regarding the setting being sticky - for some reason I find myself having to double-check this setting far too often - I'm not sure if it is because it resets itself whenever C1 is crashing (which it has been doing often recently). Anyway - it is enough of a nuisance that I'm taking the trouble to write about it here... :-)

Maybe it would be better at this point to make use of the "Submit a request" feature of the Community and create a Support Case related to your constant crashing.
At least then you will be talking directly to Technical Support.
It sounds like finding a solution to that might help you even if the Feature Request still has relevance.
