    $USD

    Capture One Pro - perpetual License - $299 ---- with 25% discount - $224

Capture One Pro - Annual Subscription - $179

    Capture One Pro - Monthly Subscription - $24.95 x 12 = $288

How much is Light Room + PhotoShop subscription per month?

I find this move quite dishonest in fact. I purchased a "lifelong" product and now im being asked to pay more to continue using it.

No, you are not - the version you're using now will continue to work. But there will be no new version.

Oh - and welcome to the Real World, which is where we Canon users have always been - we've NEVER had a Canon-only version.

What makes your cameras so special?

"I bought a product "for life" and now they ask me to pay more to continue using it"

I think you are confused, the program you bought is still the same, with this new commercial position when a new version comes out, 23? you will have to buy it again as if C1's trading policy had not changed.

C1 has every right to stop marketing the software for a single camera and you have every right to buy C1 for all cameras or not, but the software you bought will always continue to work and is yours in perpetuity.

Furthermore, C1 will upgrade your version 22 to Pro for free in April and at that time you will have a program just like the one a Canon user bought but yours much cheaper.

When version 23 appears, both the Canon user and you and I will be in a position to decide if it is worth paying for the new version in any of its modalities (perpetual, annual, monthly) or on the contrary we are going to LR + PS . If your decision is the latter, you will have your C1-22 Pro for all cameras and the latest version of LR+PS.

Given how little the latest C1 updates have offered (very poor HDR and Panoramic) perhaps the best option is to change to LR+PS and every year in view of how they evolve in technique and price, update one or the other.

    Greetings

It is a simple way to raise prices, with the escuse to provide new useless functionalities we don't ask for.

People ask for real bug fix and long support of the same version. 1 year is ridiculous. In all italian forums users are angry because Phase One ignore real needs.

"There has always been only one version, with all the functionality, and that is CaptureOne Pro. The specific brand "versions" were a fairly recent addition and all they did was turn off support for other cameras based on the licensing code."

That is what I have suspected and what makes Phase One explanation for the change, that they need resources of developers for other products quite unfounded. It seems that key reason was to get more money from users. OK, but why they had to lie about it?

EIW, the price that you quote is it in US? I'm sure that will be more in Canadian $. I'm not happy with that move ; I using Nikon the version 21 and so far I'm happy the functionality.

It would be nice to have an explanation why the (for) Fuji, Sony, and Nikon versions are being discontinued.

I only use Sony cameras and lenses, that's why I take advantage of the (for Sony) discount price of Capture One Pro.  Why bog down the program with all the other profiles?

Will it be possible to delete those other profiles once Capture One Pro is finalized?

I hope this means we get huge discounts on Upgrade Versions in the coming years...?

kinda like Adobe... once a new version is coming out they discount heavily on last year's version. I used to get the newer versions of Light Room for under $100.  I didn't like the subscription method of payment, so I switched to Capture One Pro (for Sony)... so far, I've gotten pretty good discounts on the Upgrade versions every year.  More expensive than Light Room was, but I am satisfied with COP/sony.

Why bog down the program with all the other profiles?

That is not actually how the software works. There has always been only one version, with all the functionality, and that is CaptureOne Pro. The specific brand "versions" were a fairly recent addition and all they did was turn off support for other cameras based on the licensing code. The software is not faster or slower because of that. The downloadable binaries for C1P, Nikon, Sony, Fuji are otherwise all the same.

This is the same modus operandi as Tesla cars. All cars contain all the same (software) features and based on what feature you're paying for, the software gets unlocked.

Well, PhaseOne now changed their mind and felt like everyone needs to have the highest end "Tesla", whether you need all the features or not. To be fair, that has always been that way until the last few years when they introduced cheaper options. But they're clearly not getting enough money from that, so no more cheap options.

Will it be possible to delete those other profiles once Capture One Pro is finalized?

No, you will not. They always have been there for CaptureOne Pro users and it will not change.

I hope this means we get huge discounts on Upgrade Versions in the coming years...?

They won't be any different than previous years. Again, nothing is changing with CaptureOne Pro. It has always been around and always had its discounts. The only thing changing is that brand versions go away.

    They've done no such thing.

I think there is a misunderstanding here, one which I also made and I see many people making now..

We will still be able to continue using what we purchased as it is now. It won't be sold anymore, nor supported. But my fear of not being able to use it until such time as I choose to upgrade is just not what CO is doing.

    Hope this helps

What makes your cameras so special?

The vendors that choose to invest in a cooperation with C1.

Presumably the market they see for their products in the future no longer encourages them to continue any sort of special venture. Or at least not any sort of cost that might be incurred.

I got confirmed from support today that the Fujifilm version will continue for at least version/year 23. It can be seen in the upgrade options in your account.
