@Herbert - a partial solution to your crop issue. If you have a number of images and want their crop ratio to be set to unconstrained ("unbeschränkt") then (1) select all the images you want that for, then (2) choose unconstrained ("unbeschränkt") from the menu on the crop button on the tool bar. As long as Edit Selected is turned on, all of them will be changed at once.

    1. I can confirmed.

@Walter Tatarek. Yes, I had to remove my prefs to get it running.

-> We will probably see a fixed version soon. I guess

Regarding the image in the file browser jumping to the position of last image in the collection, yes, I can confirm this, and it is incredibly inconvenient in a large collection.

And this is not the only issue with the file browser in this new version 15.3: it jumps around when checking/unchecking ratings, CO1 does not store the browser position when closing the application or switching catalogues, etc, etc...

I tested the beta and all the bugs were there, they were nót there in v15.2, and support admitted that there wer "under the hood changes" with regards to the file browser in v15.3.

I reported all the bugs after each new beta elaborately, offered to make a movie showing what was happening, and was in contact with a friendly guy from support, who eventually resided to simply ignoring my emails in which I explained that the bugs were there still. His respons was that he could not replicate them on his system, which unfortunately tends to be proof for them that it does not exist.

So please open a support case, it is the only way to get things fixed, but brace yourself, you'll need some perseverence.

    Hi

I have found a woraround for the crop tool bug. This is not very convienient but better then nothing. The old behaver of the unconstrained aspect ratio come back with the following settings:

Select one Picture and set unconstrained in the corp tool. In the ##### x ##### field set left 1 and hit enter. then set right of the x also 1 and hit enter. Because this numbers are unvalid the numbers going back to default. Then mark all Images und copy this on all Images. The old behaver ist now back. All Images have the unconstrained aspect ratio and the images have no crop. So it is possible to make a new crop from every point in the Picture like befor the update.

It's easier than that. All you have to do is select all the images you want to be set to Unconstrained. Then with the primary one selected (the one with the wide white border) choose Unconstrained from the top tool in the toolbar. All will be set to unconstrained, provided that Edit Selected is turned on.

Ian: Thank you for your hint. The problem is, that if I do so as you told me, the Images have all already a selection frame on the edge. So I can not start the crop from inside of the image and draw diagonal with one movement. I have to start on the edges and so I lost also the position that I had before I switch from the hand tool to the crop tool. I usually use the hand tool to zoom and drag the picture like I want to crop. Then I switch to the crop tool and draw diagonal. When I have to start from the edges I need at least 3 movements more and lost the former state of the window. This is much slower. That is the reason I fill in the number 1 and hit enter before I copy this on all images. This clear the selection around the edges and I can freely crop from within the image diagonal in only one movement.

    Greetings Alexander

You can drag out a crop from within the frame if you hold shift when you start to drag. (You've always been able to do that both before and after the recent crop tool changes.)

Ian Wilson: Thank you for the advice. I have tried it yesterday. It is convenient. Only the fact that afterwards all images have a crop selection is not ideal. I have to press the shift key for every picture if I want to crop from the inside the image diagonal in one movement like I am used to. And when I with the shift key pressed accidentally just click instead drag, it jumps back to the default aspect ratio "original" that I don't want. How can I clear this crop selection on all images and keep the aspect ratio unconstrained?

Just switch to a different tool, for instance press H for the Hand (pan) tool.
