concerned about the stability of C1
i've used C1 since v10. I was concerned about its stability then -it was prone to locking up and crashing frequently. Now with C1 22 v15.4.1.9 I am more concerned than before. This version crashes and locks up more frequently than ever before. Sometimes it locks up for several minutes after moving a slider or doing some other simply task. Other times it locks up permanently and has to be killed from the Windows Task Manger,or it simply exits suddenly.
I've been a software developer for 35 years and have worked on a lot of software projects. I have not seen this kind of behavior on any of the software systems I've worked on except one product which was released before its was ready at the direction of the Development DIrector. The engineers warned him that the product wasn't ready for market and he released it anyway, He was later fired.
It is my opinion, based on my experience in software development, that C1 is being upgraded faster than bugs are fixed. I feel that C1 management is pushing to gain more market share by pushing new functionality releases and ignoring the problems. This can eventually result in the person in charge of software development losing his/her job.
I used to use LR standalone before C1 and it was buggy but IMO C1 has become more buggy than LR was back then. I have become frustated enough now with C1's constant crashing and locking up that I am giving serious thought to changing to use DarkTable instead. At least it's free, and the developers have a reputation for listening to the customer.
IMO, if C1 continues to push new functionality at the expense of product stability,C1 will LOSE market share and customers will "defect" to other editing tools. C1 needs to pause development of new features and work on bug fixes and stability for awhile. All the features in the world won't gain market share for a product if it won't run.

Been reading that since version 3.7.
Yet here we are...
Capture One is rock solid on my machine. Your local environment is likely to be the problem.

I don't think my local environment is the cause as I've had this problem on two different computers over five years. I checked the Windows event log for system software or hardware errors and found nothing. I checked the C1 application log and it contained three message about detecting a hang. My computer runs an Intel i5 quad-core processor at 3.5Ghz and I have 12GB of physical memory.
If there's something wrong with my installation, I would expect to see serious errors in the C1 log files, but I don't - unless C1 hangs.I don't know how to detect any other problems after checking the System Event log and checking the C1 program logs.

Timothy Devick : I too are concerned about the stability and long term usability of C1. I also have tried DarkTable as resort if I can C1 not use any more. I think it is the roadmap of the ex ebay manager Rafael Orta which is CEO. He has left behind 2/3 of the developers and Capture One is now a separate company and has not much to do with PhaseOne any more. He has a Cloud / Web app / service in mind for mobile devices. And want the masses of Mobile Device users attract. Look for interview on Image Recoruce.com When I put here a link the comment change the status to pending approval. So I removed the link.
What a shame C1 goes down the hill. I need a reliable RAW Editor, that functioning many years for my high resolution Cameras. With DT I can get also good results and I don't need a Windows installation. The DT project is much more reliable and they listen to the users. They deserve it to get supported.
