Naming.
I have a number of folders with a mix of photos, such as roses, dos and sunsets, all in one folder. Is it possible - in the previews- to name the photos separately, such as roses, or dogs, os sunset?

AI ? I'm not sure. I'd like to give - in the preview screen - 'real' names to photos, like... 'sunset' to a photo with a sunset, ... 'rose' to a photo with a rose, etc. Prefetched tokens with date etc, is one part, but I'd like to be able to sort my pictures by names. Then I can instruct C1 to look up photos with a specific 'name', such as rose, or sunset.

The most effective way of doing what you want is to use keywords. Try adding the keyword "dog" to the dog photos, "sunset" to the sunset photos and so on. One of the advantages of that is that as well as finding all the dog photos or all the sunset photos, you could for instance find the photos with a dog at sunset.

Ian is right.
But, as I see your intension, you can easily rename each single image on the Image Browser by clicking on the filename (and edit the name). Another way is Batch Renaming in the Image menu.

Well...Ian and Ernst...finally a clear answer to my modest 'problem'. In short.. So I can 'change' all the names of the photos during the Import, next to the folder name etc!?-1 -
Well sort of. But what Ernst has suggested would be renaming them after import, and my suggestion about keywords would probably be easiest done after import too.
If you want to do it during the import, it rather depends on what the images are.
If they were all dog photos you could easily enough get Capture One to rename them on import to the existing file name with "dog" added to it. In the naming section of the import dialog box you could use the [Image Name] token (which just means its existing name such as DSC_1234.NEF) and add in the word dog like this
... and you would end up with file names after import like DSC_1234_dog.NEF.
If you were importing a mixed load of photos including dogs, sunsets, roses, gardens, cats and so on, that would not really work as all your sunset photos would say dog. You would then be better to just let Capture One import all of them with their existing names, and rename them afterwards. You could do it one at a time as Ernst has explained, or you could do a batch. If you selected all the dog photos, you could then use the Batch Rename tool (on the Image menu) to add dog to the end in the same way as I have already shown, then do the same with the sunsets, the roses, etc.

You could use the "Job Name" token on import.
As in screen shot the combination of Job Name plus say Image Name
would give unique names to say all flower images as you import them.
For efficiency you would want to import similar category images at the same time.

Nearly all said before. But mind, that images you rename change their name an harddisk too! If you want to rename images EVER do this within Capture One to avoid problems!

THNX You all!!! I think I've the procedure I was look'n for. Best thing to do for me right now is just give it a try. Worst what can happen is I've to empty C1 Cache, and start all over. I,ve made a complete copy of all my folders and stored them on an other Disc. So...when things work out I'll let you know...Have a nice day!
