Compatibility CR3 files Canon R6 mark II with Capture One Pro 22
The CR3 files of the Canon R6 could be opened without any problem in Capture One Pro 22. However It appears not to be possible to open CR3 files from the Canon R6 mark II in Capture One Pro 22.
I would expect that there will be an update for the fairly recent Capture One Pro 22, so that the files of the R6 II can also be opened there!?

Never going to happen. Capture One (nor anyone else) ever retrospectively adds support for new cameras to obsolete versions of the software. Nor is it at all reasonable to expect them to.

I'm talking about a 2022 version of Capture One and it's about a camera that came on the market in the same year. It doesn't feel right to me to be forced to buy the 2023 from Capture One just because I'm buying a new camera, while I'm using the 2022 version. The 2022 version worked just fine with the CR3 files from te Canon R6.

Macro 4, thank you for raising this
A few things changed with the Mk 2 update. But I seriously doubt that an output file format - which is used in several Canon cameras was one. CR3 itself is not obsolete(!)
I was intending to buy Capture One. But if they don’t support something as simple as this, on their product which is only one years old, I will not
i would think it’s reasonable that premium software should be usable with cameras from the world’s biggest camera manufacturer for say three years- as a bare MINIMUM. If I find out that they don’t, I’ll buy some other software
Id think a very minor issue which they can fix easily. At this stage, probably very few people have bought the new Mark 2. But given its very good reviews, I'm sure that will steadily change into a popular product
Keep us posted!

Coming from EOS R upgraded to R6 MKII and using CapOne 23 on a Mac Studio with Ventura, the noise reduction does absolutely nothing on a CR3 coming out of the R6 MKII.

See this post : https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/4410311091857-Can-t-pre-upgrade-to-Capture-One-22 .
I openend Capture One 22 and went in the menu to "Capture One, License". I saw the screen like in the first screenshot from this post. I had 1 free Upgrade left.
I was able to download Capture One 2023 from the website of Capture One after logging. See the second screenshot of the post I mentioned above.

It is actually very reasonable to update new cameras on software that costs a small fortune to own. This is really saddening to see after I invested so much to get 22 version, and I can't get r6mk2 because i's have to throw away even more money just to open up files from that camera. Not everyone is making fortunes with this software, I am just a passion photographer. Like always, shady business with everything in this world, extremely disappointed.

Why does it matter which camera took CR3 raw files, I don't understand CR3 is CR3 its canon raw no matter which camera which took the photos. I am not upgrading to Capture one 23 just because I bought a new camera from my Sony, as far as I was concerned when I bought the program I expected it to be able to edit all photos at 77 years old and just an amateur its not worth my money to pay a premium price for a program that said it covers canon but doesn't typical USA scam

Les Hewson - Canon label all their raw files CR3 these days (previously CR2 files were used) , Nikon label theirs NEF, Sony uses ARW, and so on. But in fact for each camera model the files are different under the hood, and it is not the case that if you can edit one CR3 file (or NEF file or ARW file) you can edit them all. This applies much more widely than to Capture One. Other apps such as Lightroom require updates for new models of camera too. It even applies more widely than raw editing software. MacOS Finder can display thumbnails for NEF images from my Z6ii but not for NEF images from my Z8. (See screenshot.)
So it really isn't just someone scamming us - there are technical differences between the files. (Beyond my technical expertise to explain in detail what they are.)
