Do you want to copy or move your original images on disk, or just reference your portfolio images? If the latter, create an album in your portfolio session and  dragdrop them to there. The album will contain references to the images then. If you want to physically move them do this in the original session library tool, dragdrop them from the browser to the folder in the lib tool. For copy I think one of the modifier keys (e.g. CTRL) should work.

You said drag from one session to another in your title, but then you said from your catalog. You can't just drag images out of a catalog into a session.

If you really want to move images from one SESSION to another then just open the target session, then in the Library tool, find the existing location of the images, select the images you want to move, and drag them to the folder where you want to move them to.

"out of a catalog into a session" you can't, but from a catalog to a session (album) you can. If the OP would be more precise what he wants to achieve this would be helpful.
