You can find the chosen Film Simulation in de Exif Data under "Maker:FilmMode" for example with ExifTool / ExifToolGUI.

Also agree. As the SDK came I wanted to write a plug-in, but failed because of the limitations. Since then nothing changed.

Another vote for HE* and HE support! It's not only to save space on the Memory Cards, but also on hard disks and backups.
