Capture One 21 MacBig Sur M1 - cannot access ratings - menus all grey - help available?

How to import photos from FujiFilm X-T30 in C1 21 Express on Mac OSX 11.2.1?
Newbie here. Is there a way to import photos direct from the camera? Or, do I have to go through importing to Photos on the Mac and then import to C1 21 express from that? Thanks
