Canon R5 tethering issue with Capture 1 16.5.3.1

I can't speak to earlier versions of C1 since I just bought the R5. But there are random (as in about 30% of the time) problems with tethering. The connection between camera and C1 will start dropping out every few seconds then coming back on... lather rinse repeat.. until I eventually reboot C1.

This is not related to battery in the camera, quality of cables (which are top quality) or the quality of the super-high-end M3 MacBook Pro (Sequoia 15.1). The problem does not occur at all with my Canon 5d MKIII, nor does the problem occur when I tether to Lightroom.
