Chronological order
Mac OS 10.13.02
When I import my files into Capture One they appear to import in a random order. I am shooting time lapse and I want to view my files in the correct chronological order. I have named the files with a 3 digit counter. This seems to work but the order displayed appears to be random. Can I re-order them or will they just be ordered correctly after I have processed them and moved them elsewhere?

There does seem to be a new bug which causes import in random order - several users have asked about it and I have experienced it. Here's what I did. (It is quick and easy - it takes longer to explain than to do.)
(1) Import the files. Name the files in any fashion - it doesn't matter* as we will change them in a moment. Don't worry about whether they are in the right order.
(2) Change the sort order to Date** using the drop-down control near the top left of the browser.
(3) Select all the files you want to rename (Cmd-A on Mac or Ctrl-A on Windows if you want all of them or just select the ones you want.)
(4) Go to the File menu and choose Batch rename images. You can select a naming method including adding tokens for Image date in various formats, and a counter. I always name mine with Image date (yy-MM-dd) and 4-digit counter. So I get names like 17-12-16-0023.NEF.*** There are drop downs on the counter and the date so that you can choose the format. Then click Rename. Capture One renames them quite quickly.
* Cautionary note - you probably don't want the name at import to be in the same format as the one you will rename to. This is because if your first file on import had been 17-12-16-0001.NEF, C1 would be trying to change the name of the first file in date order to 17-12-16-0001.NEF as well, but as there would already be a file of that name it would have to use 17-12-16-0001 1.NEF which is annoying.
** Note about dates - using date order, C1 will in fact sort them by the exact time down to the second.
*** The advantage of this naming convention is that files order by date even if they are sorted in Name order, which means that in your file system they are listed in the right order.
Hope that helps.
