One suggestion would be to change the default amount for that camera. So I have shots from 2 different cameras in the session I am looking at right now - a Sony RX10 M3, and a Nikon D500. The Sony seems to come in at Amount 160, Radius 1, Threshold 1, by default, and the Nikon at Amount 180, Radius 0.8, Threshold 1. (So Capture One uses different values for each of the cameras.)

Now if I thought that the Sony needed more than the 160/1/1 for those settings - let's say 190/1.2/1 - I can set one image to that, then click the ... on the sharpening tool and choose "Set as default for Sony DSC-RX10M3". Then that will be the amount set for that camera by default in the future.

If you're always needing to increase sharpening in Capture One compared to Leaf software I would assume that Leaf software was applying more sharpening in their initial conversion of the image. I wouldn't see this as any sort of issue, just a difference between software programs and it's fine to raise the sharpening to your desired level in Capture One. If you're unable to get images as sharp in Capture One as you are Leaf software then that might be something to consider looking into.

I believe the sharpening is just a starting point set by Phase One when they profiled your particular camera, perhaps they apply a similar level of sharpening to all cameras/images but it might vary a little bit between cameras. All raw editors that I'm aware of apply some sharpening out of the gate, so to speak, and that amount will change from editor to editor. Though that is not necessarily the amount needed for any given image. That will change based on the camera, lens, scene, photographer, output, etc.

    Thanks very much guys,
I'll apply your wise suggestions to my continuing quest.

I'm hoping this question will fall on the ears of another Aptus shooter who also shoots similar products (not many of us out here anymore) so that I'm optimizing the best workflow file every time for processing.

Given the observations you made about the low numbers of likely users for your combination of equipment I think you are right to have concerns about getting a response.

Why not ask Phase for guidance in the differences between the Leaf software and C1 V9 via a Support Case?
