Problem with clear menu in catalogs
I need some help in determining if I can regain a lost catalog. I had a few catalogs that after deleting the few images in them wanted to get rid of the catalog name without the images. I couldn't find any relevant info to delete the name of a catalog and highlighted that empty catalog and engaged "clear menu ", well to those in the know I deleted some relevant catalogs with images thinking clear menu was specific to that one catalog. My question, can I regain those lost catalogs or do I have to import all images and create those catalogs again. Just for curiosity how do you delete an empty image catalog title in catalogs or can you only do that with sessions. Thanks in advance...Jack

When you clear that menu, all you are doing is clearing the recent files list - similar to the recent files list you might have in a program like Microsoft Word, or Microsoft Excel. It doesn't remove them from your disk. So open Capture One, go to the File menu, Open... and navigate to the catalog you want to open. The recent list will gradually populate itself again.

Thanks Ian, that did restore a catalog with edited images. Again out of curiosity since I'm fairly new to C1, am I better off creating sub-folders within a catalog with the understanding that I can delete a sub-folder,if not needed, without damaging other images within that catalog...Jack 0 -
It depends on what catalogs you have, why you have them (for instance why multiple catalogs, or why just one master catalog) etc. One of the powerful features of catalogs is User Collections - albums, smart albums, projects etc. Good User Collections are more significant than how the Images are physically organised on disk.
Have you watched any videos in the learning hub on catalog organisation? (Also available on the Capture One YouTube channel.)
