Multiple adjustments in one layer
Hi all,
I want to to do multiple adjustments of the same type (e.g. cloning / brush) in one layer. As the cloning / brushing of a large area needs different source / end points it would be inconvenient to use a separate layer for each smaller area.
How can I do that?
Thanks for your tips.

Thank you very much Ian,
very helpful webinar. This clarifies that source point always moves with same vector as editing area. It would be very helpful if it would be possible to choose a constant source point for different areas - hope phase one will include that option.

If you wish for that suggestion to be officially considered you should create a Support Case that describes the requirement.
That way it will be aggregated with any other requests for the same feature and Phase can measure the relative importance with which the user community value the idea.
As a comment - I also have use of an application which DOES allow different source points for different areas. That can be quite useful sometimes BUT that implementation has 2 points of usability to consider.
Firstly each "layer" is in fact an application of a single tool. So if you want to make the changes to an area of the image that might require several tools you have to use multiple "layers" and copy the "masks" to them. On the plus side you can at least "link" the masks for selected layers so that editing one edits all the layers.
If, using that application, you want to apply a style that uses 5 adjustment tools you will end up with 5 layers being added. That has some benefits and some debenefits compared to C1.
Also the masked areas within a "layer tool" are not linked so if you want to move them they have to be moved individually. Once again sometimes that is good and sometimes not so good depending on what you are trying to achieve and the image composition.
Secondly the means by which the calculation for the edits are applied is, I think, different to C1 and that probably strongly influences the approach taken to designing tools and processes by both applications. There may be some technical constraints to consider that we users are not aware of.
Nevertheless I think the suggestion may have merit but I would strongly recommend that anyone creating a Support Case tries to fully describe the functional features that they might require not just the part that is irking them at the moment of posting!
Just my 2 cents. YMMV.
