How to close session?

The whole approach is very flexible when you get to understand it.

Why would you want to close (sounds like you mean remove) the session?

It is much easier ot gain an understanding of what is happening if you do not fight the assisted structure that a session offers from the start up.

Later, when you have an understanding and feel comfortable with how things work, do your own thing. C1 is flexible enough to allow that. But to start with just learn what the suggested defaults offer. You may find the ideas are of more use to you than you think.

Yes, that's what I'm trying to do. I have all my images on a network drive, sorted by date (%YYYY%mm%dd). I want to work with them so that all of them stay where they are. Without any copying from "Capture" folder to any other.

I want to sort images and to put them into new directories so that not only COP may see them. (I know that COP can do virtual albums).

Then process with Output and Trash stages (I like this part).

Some hints and answers. Only basics. I hope they are helpful.
Most of them are pretty obvious.

    Common:

    Close a session or catalog:
1: 'Close' icon of the session window.
    2: menu - 'File' - 'Close Window'.
    3: <CMD> + 'W'

    Create a session:
1: 'Library' tab - 'Library' tool, '+' button behind 1st box, select 'New Session'
    2: menu - 'File' - 'New Session'
    3: <CMD> + 'N'

    Create a catalog:
1: 'Library' tab - 'Library' tool, '+' button behind 1st box, select 'New Catalog'
    2: menu - 'File' - 'New Catalog'
    3: <SHIFT> + <CMD> + 'N'

    Start blank:
Press <Opt> while loading CO. A dialog will ask you what to do.

    Delete a catalog or session:
Use Finder. But be sure it doesn't contain images you want to keep.

    Session:

    Set capture folder:
In 'Library' tab - 'Library' tool, browse system folders (you can create new folders from here). Right-click, choose 'Set as Capture Folder'.

    Import:
Select 'Import to' folder, create 'Sub Folder' by text or tokens.

    Tethered:
    Set 'Next Capture Location'.

    Catalogs:

'Synchronize' doesn't include subfolders. Maybe that's why you didn't get the new images.

It also closes the program then! I know I can keep Photoshop without any opened file, but COP exits.

Why?! Why COP can create catalogs and session and considers it's own database corrupted if something was moved via File manager, but can't Delete anything itself???

But I've marked the checkbox Include known subfolders! Does it ignore the unknown?! Then should I import new folders manualy everytime?? I should say again COP doesn't allow to import more then one folder at a time! What about F5 (refresh) functionality as we do in File manager?

Men, what a crazy usability! I've created a catalog just for one day and added two folders to move files between them. There is no context menu for cut/past! You can drag and drop images through the whole screen to move files! But no context menu and no reaction to shortcuts like Ctrl+X. Only macish drag and drop approach! I don't get it.

It doesn't quit on my Macbook. Could be different on Windows.

I don't know why. You'll have to ask Phase One about it. But I am moving my catalogs and sessions with Finder on my Macbook and between 2 Macbooks. They work. And I don't have 'File delete' options in PS or Office either.

You are right, I should have written 'Synchronize' doesn't include new, unknown subfolders.
That's the way it works, and it fits workfows like mine. Feel free to ask Phase One for a 'f5' (refresh) and an option to include unknown subfolders.

    > And I don't have 'File delete' options in PS or Office either.

Yeh. That's because these programs do not try to handle file managment. COP is a different story.

I would if I would know if (or where) they accept requests like that.

Have a look at their website, https://www.phaseone.com/, choose 'Support' from the menu.

Or use one of these direct links:
    http://support.phaseone.com/, https://www.phaseone.com/SupportMain.aspx

At the bottom, you can choose the support you are looking for.

If you manage things within C1 (things like moving files) C1 will know what is going on and keep a record accordingly.

This information - about what it is supposed to know and where that information is, is stored in the cosession or cocatalog files. (I am not being specifc here - just oultining the concept.)

If you move something through a process outside of C1 you will not be telling C1 how things have changed. So then you need to make things known again. There is no need to make it that complicated.

You can delete things within C1 if you need to. Again, doing it that way tells C1 what you are doing.

If you want to communicate with C1 Support your can create a Support Case. Even during a trial period.

Use the information Hans provided or when in C1 click on the Help menu and there you will see a link for Capture One Support. You should find the path you need under that.
