Option to render previews on imported folders
Hi,
I own a Sony and Fujifilm camera and I'm going through thoasands of poto's of the last two years to make some picks for re-edits I want to make now that I'm learning new things with Capture One.
I noticed that when I import folders, that Capture One also renders previews of the photo's which will make scrolling through my library much faster.
Problem is that somehow during the import it skipped this step, and now when I look through my Fujifilm RAWs it takes a good 1-2 second to render the photo (for some reason the Sony RAWs are much faster, why?)
So my main question is: is there a way to render previews after I've already imported photo's to make my photo selection much smoother? Because this really slows down since I have to go through two terabytes of photo's..

You can select some photos (perhaps all those in the folder or album you want to work on, rather than the whole two terabytes' worth at once) and on the Image menu choose Regenerate Previews.

Are you using a Catalogue?
The speed of production of the initial Preview that you mention may be related to the type of sensor used in the different cameras.
The Previews are likely already stored. However C1 may not move everything into Memory and then apply the local current display settings (related to the Output Recipes and possible Proofing settings, etc.) to all of them. More likelyjust what seems to be your current working selection so far as C1 can guess your intentions!
In which case some of the apparent delay may be mostly loading to memory - perhaps with freeing up some memory to start with.

@ian: Thank you! I found the regenerate previews option, it looks like what I've been looking for and I'd like to honestly let C1 render all my photo's overnight, or a few days instead of having to render an album when I jump into it. I have tried selecting "all" imported photo's and Regenerating Previews but I do not see the process bar like I would when I orginally imported the photo's. I tried looking at my windows Task Manager and it does put my CPU under load for like half a hour and then it's back to normal. However when I try jumping from folder to folder in C1 it STILL has to render 3-5 seconds in between every photo which is super slow when wanting to go through thousands of photo's
@Grant: How do I adjust my Output Recipes and Proofing Settings in a way that makes the quickest previews? I honestly don't care much for my local display settings, I just want to quickly scroll through these photo's.. And how do I allocate more memory to C1? I have 16GB and a desktop i7, looking at my specs this all seems very off..

You don't say where your raw files are stored. Are they on a local drive, or NAS, or what? That might affect how quickly the previews render.
I don't find that it takes 3-5 seconds between photos, and my computers (though Macs) are much older than yours, apparently.
Also I do find that from time to time Capture One doesn't seem to want to render the previews and has to be kick-started by using Regenerate Previews, but most of the time it does it by itself.

The preview files are stored in the cache folder, extension is .cop for Capture One Preview. If in doubt you can count them via windows explorer.
Take care about the setting in preferences which determines the resolution of the previews. This should not be less than your screen resolution.
Note that when zooming in, the preview size may not be sufficient in which case the image in rendered again.
When browsing through your images, set proofing OFF. If proofing is on, C1 will add additional calculations to the preview file, e.g. the sharpening adjustments. When re-generating the previews, I think the recipes so not matter.
