Reorganizing all my catalogs when moving to a new computer

Hi,

I'm going to be moving C1 to a new computer and am thinking about implementing a new catalog strategy.

I've got about 30 catalogs, all separate from the image locations.

On the new pc, I'd like to copy over all the catalogs from the SSD of the old pc, and move all the relative images INSIDE the catalogs. Moreover, I plan to store all image files inside the catalogs that I create, so I'm simply trying to unify my approach for both old and new catalogs.

I'm sure this will be easier said than done.

Any suggestions on how I might proceed ?

Hi Steve,

I think you can copy your images, leaving the folder hiarachy intact, and then use the locate function to determine the top most folder, to make the references valid again, but I haven't done this, so best you test it out.

Inside catalog: It might be that backing up a catalog then backs up also your images, resulting in huge backups, if that's true you should consider this.
