Although I have not had the opportunity to test this, I think it is a similar issue as with a DSLR camera plus wireless transmitter, working in the field. By the way, when you are working in the studio, you do not need Internet access, just a local wireless network (but this is sometimes referred to as Internet).
Two options:
1) Look for a wireless access point that has either its own power supply (batteries) or can be powered through the notebook's USB port (draining you notebook's battery of course)
2) Create a wireless network on you notebook and have the iPad connect to it. On Mac this is an easy task: click on the Airport symbol in the upper-right corner of your screen, next to the clock; select Create Network. When you create a network the wireless adapter works in the so-called 'Ad Hoc mode' in contrast to the regular 'Infrastructure mode'. In Ad Hoc mode, the computer mimics a wireless access point, hence you do not need additional hardware. Connect your iPad to the network just created.
Security note: do not have your computer running in Ad Hoc mode when not in use for your own purpose.0 -
