Anything to report on your monitor's profile. Manufacturers default, manually calibrated? Can you look into it with ColorSync and establish ICC version (2.x or 4.x)?

I've been using Capture One with 40D Cr2s for a long time, Magda - it is definitely a supported camera.

Basically, the thumbnail generation error confirms it is a supported file format (non-supported formats don't generate this error). Nevertheless good to know 40D's CR2 run good in the field with CO.

Thank you for your answers! Good to know that it is supposed to work with my 40d!
My colorsync is 4.6, but I don't get what I can do with it. Should I change my settings in colorsync
or in Capture one? And how? Would you please inform me closer about the steps, if that's posible.
    Thank you for your time!

    Magda,
I will give you more details in checking (only checking) your monitor's ICC profile type version. You did not give much detail on your setup though, unfortunately. Because I suspect potentially a problem with CO5 and the monitor profile, I would be nice to know whether you have calibrated your monitor.

Back to ColorSync. On top, select Devices. In the left column of Registered ColorSync devices, expand Displays. Your display(s) is/are listed here. Select your display. In the right pane you have a Factory Profile and a Current Profile. If you have not done any calibration, these will probably point to the same profile. However, click on the Open button next to the Current Profile. The window that opens shows Header information below. The third tag is Specification Version. Can be 2.1.0 or another value. More below: Creator = Apple?

Thank you! Sorry for my imperfect information! That is correct -I have not calibrated my monitor and the profiles are the same, 2.1.0 and Apple are the values.

OK, so the monitor is not calibrated, using Apple's profile. Should rule that as a cause.

Next, I would close CO5, trash the preference file (user folder > Library > Preferences: com.phaseone.captureone.plist), trash the Cache > Proxies folder of your current image folder, trash the Capture One.col50 file in the Pictures > Capture One Library sub folder (assuming you run CO5 standard, not Pro or Pro with the default session) and start CO5 again.

If that does not help, can you perhaps publish a CR2 file to the internet for download?

I've followed the steps but it's not working for me. I've got the CO5 Pro -version, if that changes anything.
    Thank you.

You 40D file '5937' opened without problems in my CO 5.1.1 Pro on both OS X 10.5.8 as 10.6.3. So it must be something in your setup. I run out of options, unfortunately. I suggest you to open a support case with Phase One. Hope they can help you out and we are interested in the outcome for sure.

As Paul touched on previously, the issue is likely related to the following known issue with the 10.6.3 update.
    http://xchange.phaseone.com/HOME/Conten ... nguageID=1

Changing your default monitor profile to Adobe 1998 (not apple/standard profile) will likely resolve the issue. From there you can rest easy knowing the software is working as it should and profiling your monitor will resolve the issue.

Thank you both! This was absolutely a step in right direction but something is weird. I've now changed the display name that is described through the link.
When I first changed the monitor profile to Adobe 1998 everything on my monitor got a blueish filter but the pictures with .cr2 were finally accepted. The next time I opened CO, the same problem with CO not accepting the files came up.

When I now open CO, it's not accepting my files. When I change monitor profile to Adobe 1998, nothing happens. BUT when I change back to my standard profile "Color-LCD" everything is working fine -the blueish filter is gone and the pictures are accepted. But there has to be a way to make it work without these steps every time I start Capture One...

There likely is... but off hand I can't think of any accept to downgrade to 10.6.2

Aside from that I think it would be a good idea to start a support case to get to the bottom of it.
