    Laurence,

Double check the firmware version and WIA drivers for XP ( TWAIN for Win 2000)
    are indeed current.
Be sure FW cable is secured in camera body and computer.

    ○Connect to computer Camera OFF
    ○Launch Capture One
    ○Create New Session
    ○Turn Camera ON
    ○Take Capture

    Error messages? Success?

Best Troubleshooting: attempt to establish tether using Canon program. If Canon and Windows cannot communicate, then Capture One certainly cannot.

    Sincerely,
    K C

Thanks for your advice Keith. I've followed all your suggestions. Windows recognises that the EOS 1Ds II is connected but C1 still states that "a Canon camera is not connected" in spite of doing the right actions. Any other ideas?
    Thanks,
    Laurence
