NEX-7 In-camera Chromatic Aberration Correction
Does anyone know if Capture One supports the in-camera chromatic aberration correction with Sony Nex-7 RAW files? My understanding is that the correction is applied to JPEGs and that Sony's RAW converter uses the information, but is it also available and/or used by Capture One? If not, I may as well turn it off and use C1's own chromatic aberration correction.
Thanks,
Geoff Bryant

Geoff,
The RAW file is the RAW file, we use the available information that is in the RAW as outlined by the manufacture. Unless Sony gave us the instructions on how to use the information in the RAW to apply their Chromatic Aberration correction we are not likely using it. As such, I imagine that the Sony software is doing the same as Capture One's Chromatic Aberration Correction. You're welcome to test the feature ON and OFF in Capture One but I don't think it will make any difference.0 -
Thanks, Drew, I'll experiment and see if it makes any difference. 0 -
I have a Panasonic camera and Capture One Pro and Express applies distortion and CA corrections without comment.
Silky Pix and Lightroom does it in the same way without comment.
There is no possibility to switch this feature on or off.
I think, the distortion information is embedded in the Exif Maker Notes and used without comments.
It is not in the Raw data, because DNG files are not corrected in SilkyPix, so I know, the RAW data is uncorrected out of camera.
I can, however currently not do manual corrections, when I used manual lenses. But this is another story.
I propose, try it, with a lens where you know it distorts.
