    It is highly, highly recommended to keep databases on local drives as the extra protocol change (to reach a database on a network) can lead to corruption, particularly when upgrading. If you go down this road, I highly suggest you create (and test periodically) backups every time you quit and check Test Integrity and Optimize Catalog to ensure any small issues are resolved.
