    This kind of error is often caused by a missing or corrupt MS .NET Framework installation. The .NET component is necessary since CO 4, starting with .NET 2.0. 3.0 and 3.5, 3.5 SP1. I suggest you uninstall these components through Control Panel and install them again through Windows Update (I prefer the Custom option over Express option). More details can be found in:

    Thanks. That was my first thought too. I did reinstall the whole .NET including updates for better compatibility with the freakiest soft. Does not help. Is any kind of a debug mode to catch the error?

    You can look for the logs in
    C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\CaptureOne\Logs
    You might need to enable viewing hidden files and folder in Windows Explorer.

    Thanks. There is an Application.log file there. It is accumulative, so I can see that troubles began with the v5.1. Unfortunately the log is not self-explanatory. Just the following:

    [2011-01-21 21:45:49.718][015][ID:01, ] {APPL} Application started, version Capture One 6.0.44939.152
    [2011-01-21 21:45:50.156][437][ID:04, ] {CAMCO} Could not initialize OpenCL, using standard rendering (see ImgCore log for details)
    [2011-01-21 21:45:50.156][000][ID:04, ] {CAMCO} OpenCL initialization failed, cannot be enabled
    [2011-01-21 21:45:50.953][796][ID:01, ] {APPL} ShowLicenseDialog doevents()
    [2011-01-21 21:46:00.046][093][ID:01, ] {APPL} AboutBox splash doevents()

    Any other way to trap the error?

    From your Application.log file I read that you get the License dialog where you can choose for trial (Pro/Express), Digital Back only or Activate. Is that correct? What is your selection (trial I assume)? Can you select another trial option (Pro versus Express) or better: Digital Back only (this can be undone later through the Help menu, License Activation).

    I have seen situation in which Digital Back self-activation selection worked, was reversed and after that the trial ran without problems.

    Thank you for the advise. Unfortunately result is the same, regardless the mode: Pro/Express/Digital. I will try to reinstall the .NET again, but frankly it is rather ridiculous for a Professional soft to die without a word.

    I did it again. Reinstalled the .NET. The latest. Why it is not surprising that the C1 does not work anyway? Or is it surprising for you?
    I don't believe there is no way to trap the fault. Please help!

    Your specs indicate you are at the bare minimum to run V6 AFA memory....remembering this is a user forum, not True PO support...and memory intensive programs like PS and COne tend to be problematic under older OS'es when the min specs are just met....

    ....can you disable all background programs and operations before attempting to start COne??? It is surprising to me as COne V6 installed and ran under XPSP3 here with a nonGL enabled Graphics card, but I do have 4gigs ram installed...and that was just a test, I prefer actually working with a 64 Bit OS and lots of ram for production....

    ...and this is just a thought from another user, PhaseOne provides excellent e-mail support for specific issues...

    thank you. I did try to close everything before launching C1. The problems have began with the version 5 and continue until now. I don't remember exactly when it stopped to work. Looks like after one of the games I've installed for my children. What else vital for the C1 can an installation of the other software spoil except .NET? Any other libraries, frameworks etc.?

    Create a support case and provide a System Information File and LOG files.
    The other two quick test methods are;
    -Simply Renaming the Program (disassociates it from some files)
    -Create a New User Admin account and Launch the software from it.
