Unable to attach Canon 1Dx to iMac 10.9.4
Unable to attach my Canon 1Dx to 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5 8GB Ram iMac running 10.9.4 via C1 7.2.2
Same camera and USB cord attaches to 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 8GB Ram MacBook Pro running 10.8.5 and C1 7.2.2
I upgraded the iMac from 10.6.8 to Maverick hoping this would fix, but doesn't.
When I attach the camera I get an error 'Attach Camera' pop-up window stating "The camera could not be attached"

Hey,
Sounds like something could be up with the USB ports? Try running it through a USB powered hub perhaps? Also try to reset capture one and delete all library files associated and reinstall 7.2.2 as I find it very stable with the 1dx.
Also last thing - do you have Canon ticked on preferences? Perhaps it reset when you used a nikon?0 -
I'm not a Mac user but USB is ubiquitous so cross platform experiences are likely to count.
With USB 2 for example and running an external USB powered drive I have a couple of devices that will work on a single USB port on some machines and not on others. They will work using 2 ports and an appropriate cable is provided. (The disk manufactureres recognised that there was a potential problem.)
I also have some glitches with USB3 ports on my current notebook IF I use a long (3mtr) USB3 cable. Sometimes a remote drive is recognised, sometimes not. It has never been a problem testing with a short cable. There is probably a reason (other than packaging) why USB3 drives seem to be supplied with very short cables.
Elsewhere in the forum here you may find posts about iMac ports that indicate the USB connections provided may be a tad short of consistent power supply voltages for the more power critical devices one wants to attach. It doesn't take much variability - maybe 1/10th of a volt - to affect the connections. Those observations often seem to comment that a setup that works reliably on a Mac Pro does not work with an iMac. That would be entirely consistent with my USB experiences across different Windows machines albeit not with cameras - but USB does not really care what device is attached.
The earlier suggestion to try a powered hub makes a lot of sense. Possibly also a test using a much shorter cable just to see if that makes a difference. It may not - seems to be more a USB3 thing.
HTH.
